I don’t have permission to restrict access to one of my folders, even though I'm the admin.

I tried to search for an answer to this but came up empty. First, let me say that I am the Admin of the account. I only have one Dropbox account, and I've tried to restrict access to a folder from both a computer and from the web interface. I have a folder in a subfolder (that is shared with others in our company), and I cannot restrict access to the subfolder. Clearly I'm doing something wrong, but I cannot figure out what. On a computer, I created the folder inside the parent shared folder (shared with all team members), but I want the subfolder to only be available to me. On a computer, it shows the "find admin" link, and when I click it, it brings me to the team page on Dropbox.com and shows that I am the one and only admin.

    Welcome to our Community, ebricks

Have you made sure that the folder you’re trying to restrict is located within a team folder?

Other than that, please feel free to go through this Help Center article for more details.

Let me know if you’re still having the same issue after that.

    Hello!

As Nancy stated, this capability is only available for Team Folders (i.e., not within the automatically created folder with your name on it). When you create a new folder within a Team Folder, it will look like the screenshot. After you select "specific people", just type your own email address in and click "Share" - the folder will only be accessible to you. :)

Important note: everyone with access to the parent team folder will see that the sub-folder exists, and will see its name, even if they can't access it or see who has access to it.

E.g., if you create a Team Folder (i.e., a top-level folder) for the finance team, named "Finance", only the people you've shared it with will see it exists and be able to access it. However, if you create a sub-folder within the "Finance" Team Folder, called "Reports", that only you have access to, everyone that has access to the "Finance" Team Folder will see that it exists, and see its name, but they won't be able to access it.

Let me know if you have any questions!
