Seems like I have 2 Dropbox accounts under 1 email address

Hi,

It seems I have 2 DropBox accounts but one email login.  I subscribe to a plan and pay monthly, the bills going to my gmail address, but after I logged in today it reverted me to an old (free) account registered to the same email address, but of course without all the data from my usual paid and data heavy account. How do I access my newer paid account? I can't even lodge a request for help, even as a paying customer, as I can't login to this account! Please help!

Hey jessicaemking, thanks for joining the Dropbox Community.

An email address can only be associated with one Dropbox account, so let's see what we can find to get to the bottom of this.

How are you paying for your Dropbox subscription? Is it with a credit card or through iTunes/Google Play?

If it's with a credit card, try looking up the billing info here to see the email address associated with the account; is it the same as the one the free one is under?

Let me know what you find.

To add to what has been said here, this is technically correct.....

However, Google is awkward in that you can use any punctuation before the @ sign and change gmail to googlemail and it is all one email at Google, but, here has it as 2 diff accounts - as would most services. So markmc@ and mark.mc@ are 1 account with Gmail, but, would be 2 here.

Its worth just checking how your email accounts are set up and have been entered to Dropbox to work out which is which.

Thanks Mark. I’m getting invoices for my paid account to the email address my free account can login to, so it’s got me stumped.

One prob I had a year ago was that I had the paid Dropbox account updated through DropBox support to my gmail account (which I had the forgotten free one already connected to), as the associated email to this paid account was connected to a cancelled website /email service so was no longer valid. If I’ve had access all year (yes, auto login on my computer), and have been receiving  emails for invoices, surely the email hasn’t been updated incorrectly?

Thanks Hannah for your reply.  I pay via PayPal, and the invoice is sent to the same mentioned email address, which is why it’s so odd. The same email address I can only access the free account is the same email address I receive the PayPal invoice. Any ideas?
