To get around the recent glibc version requirement on a Red Hat Enterprise 7 system, I'm running the Dropbox client in a Docker container with the Dropbox and .dropbox folders mounted externally on an Ext4 filesystem on the RHEL7 host. That's working fine currently.
Today I received an email from Dropbox informing me that I had to move my Dropbox folder being synched from the Docker container to an Ext4 filesystem by Nov. 7. Given that my Dropbox folder is already on an Ext4 filesystem, will synching continue to work for me on/after Nov. 7? I'm a bit perplexed as to why I received the email today.
Here are the relevant mount entries, as reported by the Docker container:
/dev/sda1 on /dbox/.dropbox type ext4 (rw,relatime,data=ordered)
/dev/sda1 on /dbox/Dropbox type ext4 (rw,relatime,data=ordered)

I have been a Dropbox subscriber for over 5 years, running linux on XFS (rather than Ext4) and have never had any problems, yet now you tell me that I have to switch to a different file system? Sorry guys, there is no way I'm going through all that hassle because you change your "requirements" at very short notice.
I will be removing my data and shutting my account, I may only contribute a small amount, but I'm falbbergasted that I'm being told what I must run on my Linux System.
Where was the consultation with users before this was announced?
Thanks for the response. I'll be back if I run into problems on Nov. 7th.
Hi,
As of this morning, the Dropbox sync clients that I inquiried about earlier are paused with this alert:
[ALERT]: So your files continue to sync, sign in to your Dropbox account and move Dropbox to a supported file system.
As I wrote earlier, our Dropboxes are on Ext4 filesystems. I have confirmed that extended attributes are enabled and working.
In summary, we meet all the system requirements, yet our files aren't syncing.
The browser interface is not an option for us.
What can be done to get syncing working again on our system?
Hi @Jane, would you respond to the post I left earlier today, please?

I have the same problem. Running dropbox on encrypted home directory in ext4 filesystem (Ubuntu 17.10).

@Jane Why email? I am certain there are others who have the same problem. At least I do.
