Sync icons are missing after MacOs Ventura update

Sync icons are missing after MacOs Ventura update

Hey everyone,

After I've updated my mac to Ventura, the Dropbox sync icons disappeared in my dropbox folder. Everything works fine, but when I have 2 folders opened I can't see which one is the Dropbox one and which one is the local one.

Is it a new UI choice ?

Thanks

Have you tried marking it as offline to see if a green mark appears on the file?

Hi @SteveS2, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

If there aren't any sync icons on files, then it could indicate that they are 'Available' if you're on the newer version of the Dropbox desktop application.

Could you try right clicking a file to see if get the option to mark it as available offline?

This will help me to assist further!

Hi Jay, yes when I right click on the file I've got the option to mark it as available offline.

I'm not the OP but I've had CONSTANT problems with sync icons not showing up. I also haven't seen them since Ventura (and before I had issues). Yes, I've tried all the things like reinstalling the desktop client, checking online/offline. All that works because I can see the file size go to zero when I mark it offline. However, NO sync icons. It's incredibly frustrating. I've got over 7TB of data in Dropbox and can't tell where any of it is.

Hey @Archeowebby, sorry to hear you're having issues with this.

Can you please clarify your device's exact OS version and the status and version of the desktop app as shown in your menu bar at the moment?

Have you tried reindexing Spotlight since you first noticed this by the way?

If you're running any 3rd party apps that are monitoring your files somehow, you might be interested in this conversation as well.

In any case, please keep us posted!

I'm having a similar issue. I recently migrated to a new MacBook Pro and updated Dropbox. I don't see any icons on the folders or files in the Dropbox area of my finder. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Dropbox version:

"Make available offline" option is available:

A green check icon appears when a file is made available offline:

Hey @Justin_S, sorry to hear about this.

Did you try rebooting your computer or refreshing your Finder since you first noticed this?

If you did and still notice this, you might want to reindex your Spotlight as well.

In any case, please keep us posted!

Thanks for the reply, @Walter.

I hadn't tried the steps you mentioned.

After refreshing Finder, rebooting, and reindexing the Spotlight, the problem persists. I also tried reinstalling Dropbox and repeating the various steps again with no luck.

Now, for some reason, after reindexing the Spotlight, "Dropbox" no longer appears in the Finder's sidebar under "Locations" as it did before. I can drag it there from the "Home" folder, but it is gone again when I reboot.

Is it normal for the shortcut icon to be on the Dropbox folder (tiny black arrow)? I had not noticed if it was there in the past.

Thanks again,

Justin

@Walter sorry for the delay - was out of contact for a while.

My MBP is running 13.4.1

Dropbox is v177.4.5399

I have tried re-indexing spotlight as well. Didn't seem to do anything.
