Hi there. I am using dropbox for about 10 years.
A few days ago my gentoo linux PC was upgraded its python version to python-3.11.
The following i see when i try to start dropbox. Any ideas why?
Failed to run Python command:
!! dropbox: fatal python exception:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "<frozen importlib._bootstrap>", line 991, in _find_and_load
File "<frozen importlib._bootstrap>", line 975, in _find_and_load_unlocked

File "<frozen zipimport>", line 259, in load_module
File "collections/__init__.pyc", line 21, in <module>
ImportError: /opt/dropbox/operator.so: undefined symbol: _Py_ZeroStruct
Bootstrap panicked!!
Thank you Walter.
That was the solution i was looking for.
What i did follows: install dropboxd diamond, python dropbox.py start -i.
This starts at the samet time the dropbox client.
I just had to connect my dropbox account to my computer dropbox location.
Hey @ngorelen, sorry to hear about this.
Could you send us a screenshot of the exact error you're getting so that we can have a look too?
Any additional information is more than welcome!
Walter

this is you can see from the screenshot below.
Walter, i was thinking about the record of those error messages which dropbox can save somewhere in my directories, such as ~/.dropbox ? But i could not find any.
The screen error message is saying "Failed to run Python command". Is there a way to give dropbox a specific instruction which python to run? I worry that it tries to run the latest python-3.11, which may give those errors. Perhaps i can change some scripts for running dropbox?
Thanks for the additional information @ngorelen
Could you try following the link from this page to download the python script and let us know how it goes?
