Cannot set password for shared links on PC

Hello.

Recently I've noticed that I no longer have the ability to password protect shared links through the link settings on my PC.  I'm still able to go onto the Dropbox website and add a password, but in the PC settings I can only provide access to "anyone with link" or "only people invited".  This is occurring on my 2 PCs.  Is there something I can do to get the ability to set link passwords back on my PC?  Thanks for your help.

Hey Brick L., thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Is the Dropbox application working correctly otherwise? Syncing, etc.?

What's the version and sync status, when you hover over the Dropbox icon in your system tray?

Let me know and we'll go from there.

    Thanks for the reply.

All other features appear to be working as expected.

The current version is 183.4.7058, and the sync status is "up to date".

    Thanks for checking, Brick L..

Can you also just double-check that you're signed in to the correct account, that has access to this feature?

Yes.  I only have 1 Dropbox account, and that's how I'm signed in on my PC.  I've been subscribed to a Plus plan for several years now, and this feature was working properly until last week.  I have not made any intentional changes on my end.  I also have access to this feature (password protecting links) through the Dropbox website, I just can't do it on my PC like I could 2 weeks ago.

I tried that last week and just again today.  Unfortunately, that did not fix the issue.

Hi Brick L., sorry to jump in here, but can you clarify if you're trying to password protect your shared links through the app, or website?

I'm asking, cause the feature is currently available on dropbox.com or on the Dropbox mobile app. Also, what plan do you use?

    Hi, Megan.

I'm trying to password protect on my PC.

This was my procedure up until a couple of weeks ago:

    - Right click on a Dropbox file or folder in File Explorer

    - Select the Dropbox "Share" button

    - Create a link

    - In Link Settings, under the "Who has access" drop down, select "anyone with a password"

I can still password protect by going through the website, I'm just trying to resolve why the PC feature has disappeared.

I've been subscribed to a Plus plan for several years now, and I have not made any intentional changes on my end.

    Thanks.

Thanks for the update here, Brick L..

At the moment, setting a password for your shared links is available on dropbox.com and the mobile app.

I will, however, pass your comments along to our team about this.
