How can I stop Dropbox from uploading all my photos?

I do not want Dropbox uploading all of my photo, any for that matter. I got a new phone and it uploaded all my photo. I was so upset. How can I turn that off. I have a specific use for dropbox as a student and it's not for photos.

  • It has only done it because you've told it to MasterC - its turned off by default. However, its easy enough to change. Simply alter the 'Camera Uploads' setting.

This doesn’t help. The choices on Camera Upliads is between Never and Read and Write. What does the latter mean?

That doesn't sound like a setting for Camera Uploads. On iOS it's simply an On/Off slider. I suspect it's similar on Android. Remember, you do this within the Dropbox app. Not within your phone's Settings/Permissions.

Follow the help article that Mark posted, or tell us the type of phone you have.

I want to stop uploading to dropbox from my computer, not my phone/camera.

Hi istreeter; how are you today?

Quoting from the resource Mark linked to in his comment, here's how to turn the camera uploads feature off on a computer running the desktop app:

    For Mac:

    1. Click the Dropbox icon in your menu bar.
    2. Click your avatar (or profile picture).
    3. Click Preferences…
    4. Under Import, check the box next to Enable camera uploads for.
    5. Choose Photos only or Photos and videos only.

    For Windows:

    1. Click the Dropbox icon in your system tray.
    2. Click your profile picture or initials.
    3. Choose Preferences…
    4. Under Import, check the box next to Enable camera uploads for
    5. Choose Photos only or Photos and videos only.
