I hit the dropbox backup this morning on my Iphone12 pro and the photos are backing up, but the dates are way off (January 2043/ March 2025 and February 2025), plus the photos with these dates are from 2000-2002. Any ideas why this is happening?
Hi @Jillwb, thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Could you clarify if this is the date on the files themselves, or if the files have been renamed with those dates as well?
A screenshot showing the file name and date modified (while hiding any personal info), would be very helpful!

See screenshots - most of these pictures are from 2005-2006-not sure why they are even showing up in my uploads
Thanks for the screenshots, @Jillwb; they really help.
Is this the first time you’re experiencing this behavior on the mobile app? Also, if I get this right, this is happening with files that have been automatically added to Dropbox via camera uploads, correct?
If you try to manually upload one of your files to the Dropbox app, do you experience the same thing?

Do the photos themselves have any EXIF data which could have the incorrect date on it to begin with?
You should be able to view that info in Explorer/Finder (if the Dropbox desktop application is installed for the files to sync to your machine) when right clicking the image and choosing Properties/Get info.

I'm having the same problem and checked the EXIF data that there are no wrong dates there and the pictures have not been showing wrongly before. Don't remember exactly when they showed first in pictures, but maybe like 1-2 months ago.
Sorry to see you're having this issue too, @kheberg.
Are you seeing this behavior in the Photos tab as well?
If you open your camera uploads folder do you see the same thing?
How about the actual metadata of the photos, when you open them and tap on the [i] option?

Yes, it is the same in the photos tab.
My photos are not from camera uploads, but from my computer. It is only one folder of pictures that show wrongly and only some of those pictures but all of the pictures are from the same source and added the same way.
The EXIF-data and all the data shown from the i-button is showing right dates, but in the photos-tab some of the pics have subtitle grouping for year 2032.
Hey @kheberg, sorry to jump in, but could you send us a screenshot of where you're spotting the discrepancy so that we can have a visual too?
