I bought 2TB dropbox a few week ago. After syncing it still says Updating 5,### files. What is it doing? will it ever be done updating files? everything seems to be backed up and synced. ive set many files to online-only to save space. no other folders seem to have complaints about not uploading. it doesnt say there are any sync issues.

I figured it out.

I had a broken iCloud Library with 5600 files/pictures but wasnt taking up any disk space. When you go into the folder you just see Xs on all the icons/previews. Comparing the size of the pictures folder in Dropbox web with the folder on my computer via Wiztree helped.

Hi @Ryan T.6, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Is this occurring for files in specific folders, or just in random locations?

This will help me to assist further!

This is my entire Dropbox after I did the backup process of all my main folders. It has otherwise finished syncing. Image below.

Could you try fixing the hardlinks and permissions by using these steps?

Thanks for the idea Jay but no luck.

I pause a few different times, do both commands (or just 1 and unpause), and still happens.

Hey @Ryan T.6, sorry to jump in, but have you rebooted your computer since you first noticed this?

I have the same problem. Dropbox is "updating" between 7-11 files (always with 3MB) for over a week now. I tried fixing hardlinks, made everything "online-only" or "available offline" but nothing works. I can't find any folders that seem to be problematic.

How can I see which files dropbox is trying so hard to update? It is really frustrating...

I'm on a mac with the newest dropbox version.

Hey @TilmanM, sorry to hear you’re having the same issue.

Can you please follow the steps at the bottom of this Help Center article (under the “Check what order your files are syncing in” section), and let me know if you see any files/folders there still trying to sync?
