Hi, I'm having an issue on my Dropbox app on my Macbook (Air 2020).
On the menu bar the Dropbox icon is still on updating mode (as you can see in the picture )
If I click on the icon, in the panel there's a message: "updating .dbxignore file". It's the first time that I notice that message, and there's no chance to stop that update. Moreover, the .dbxignore file doesn't exists.
Please, tell me how to fix this.
Hi @gianfrs, thanks for posting today!
Since the .dbxignore file should be a hidden file on Mac OS (since it has a dot at the beginning of the filename), could you try enabling hidden files and search for the file in Finder?
Let me know what you find!

Unfortunately there's no file hidden named .dbxignore.
Do you have an external drive or computer backup running according to this page?
Is it possible that this file is located in that location?

Hi, I have only an external hdd for time machine backups. I use it only when necessary, it's not permanently plugged in.
Is it possible that the file it's trying to sync is on that external drive?

The file isn't in the external drive, I've just checked.
Ok, I've fixed it. The file named .dbxignore was a hidden file.
I deleted it and then I restarted Dropbox for destop. Now everything is neat and clean 😄
Thanks to everyone.
I'm glad to hear you were able to resolve this issue.
Enjoy your weekend!
