Transfer Download Filename

Transfer Download Filename

When downloading a file using a Dropbox Transfer link, the file dialog box pops up prompting for a name and is empty by default. The name of the original file is lost unless the user copies from the browser window and pastes to the downalod dialog; we've had issues sending files and users not being able to use the data as they have lost/forgotten the file extension.

Is there an option for the link to automatically save to the original filename?

Hey there @user112, welcome to our Community and thanks for using Dropbox!

Does this happen for all kind of files and every transfer?

Also, do you notice the same behavior after clearing your browser's cache or when using another browser?

Let me know what you find and we'll take it from there.

Hi @Walter, thanks for the response.

I'm getting the same behaviour with Chrome and Edge with LGS and ZIP file. My colleague has reported the same issue as has one of our clients.

I just tried a couple of transfers while preparing this response and a 4GB ZIP file worked but the original ZIP mentioned above still fails ; the failing one is 18.8GB, not sure if that helps?

If you'd like direct links to test, contact me directly and I'll send something.

Thanks

Thanks for the additional details there @user112 - most appreciated!

Could you please send us a screenshot or two of how this looks like on your end?

Also, can you clarify if this also happens with transfers of smaller (in size) files?
