Dropbox app won't install
Hi,
i've got issue with installation.
I've been trying to install the Dropbox desktop app and I get to a certain point and it gets stuck on a window that says "waiting for Dropbox to installation video" and it's not getting anywhere from there.
Any help?
Thanks
I managed to fix it myself. I deleted as many folders as I could from the dropbox program folder. I also cleared up as much space on my C drive as I could. The unistall then went smoothly and then so did the install. Problem solved.

Hey Rob12, welcome to our forum!Let’s check some things:- what kind of computer do you have (Windows, Apple, Linux)?
- where did you download the Dropbox application from?
- try the full offline installer here (scroll down the page a bit)
- when you’re installing our app, you should have an active internet connection
- if you have any anti-virus or other security applications running, try disabling them temporarily while you install our app
- can you access www.dropbox.com without issue?
- can you send me a screenshot of the error message you are receiving?
Let me know when you get a chance. Thanks! - Deanso9 years agoHelpful | Level 6
I noticed that the dropbox icon was not in my apps tray, so I tried to start it manually, clicking the icon on my desktop. Nothing happens
It also won't uninstall or reinstall (online or offline)
I'm running Windows 10.
Any ideas?

Hey JaneA,
Thanks for your reply. I've replied to Sanchez. I followed your link and none of it helps. I decoupled Dropbox form this computer (the one with the problem) and tried to deinstaal and reinstall. Still no joy. I even tried to delete the dropbox folder in program files and windows says it can't because something has a file open. I can't see anything in Taskmanager called Dropbox.
I will upload the pics again, just in case.
Thanks for your help :-)
Kind Regards
Dean

Hi Jane,
Thanks for your reply.
I have tried all troubleshooting suggestions that I came across in this forum (not only this thread) and in the support resources. Nothing worked and I kept receiving the Error 2 message.
Note: the problem was ONLY related to my work's profile on my laptop. On the same machine, I've got a personal profile and Dropbox installs there with no problem at all.
The only thing that worked for me was to take my laptop to my office and connect to the server there. There must be some odd setting that my organisation chose for my laptop which prevents Dropbox to install properly. It must be a Windows issue... as always!
I haven't checked if Dropbox still works out of the office but will definitely ask for help if it doesn't.
Thanks,
Ale

Thanks both for your detailed replies & screenshots, much appreciated!Seems that you’ve been experiencing a different issue, so each case needs to be treated separately. I’ve made sure to accept Deanso’s last reply as a solution, so that other users check your replies in the future and find this easily.- aleincerti Seems that the “odd setting” on your Windows pc is the culprit, as changing networks helped you run the application normally. Please keep this thread updated if you experience the same behavior again, so that we narrow down the causes.
- Deanso Seems that your OS was preventing the uninstall, due to lack of space on your C:\ drive. I was glad to hear that this workaround fixed the issue for you though
. For future reference, you could also check this resource on how to uninstall the application manually, which may be useful.
Please keep us updated here if further assistance is needed!Warm regards,JaneA
