How do I disable the computer backup feature?

How do I disable the computer backup feature?

I installed dropbox basic to share some files -but i accidentally set up the backup feature - now it says my storage is full.  I don't want any backups on dropbox.  How do I free up space?  It won't allow me to move the files off of dropbox storage unless I upgrade

Disable the backup.

I followed that link but I don't have the same options when I go into Preferences for my Backup - eg/ I don't have step 4. "Under Adjust settings, click Disable backup."

I click on Preferences > Backups tab - then Manage Backups - the only option there is to Modify Folder selection. When I uncheck the folders that are being backed up and click save, it is like the settings don't get saved.  I exit out and go back in and those folders are still checked off.

Hi there @nm4, thank you for posting in the community.

Can you send me a screenshot of the Manage Backups page, that does not show the disable option?

Thank you!

Dear ALL,

my current plan is 10GB ( 2 basic  + 8 gained with the time 🙂 now 5 GB are dedicated to store my files, and 5GB under "Back Up". Now my Drop Box is full. I would like to remouve all the Back up running, I am sure I dont need them and if I setted is for mistake.

Just to be sure I log out all my devices (3 as basic plan).
Could you help me pls to understand how to stop this back up file in my DB.

Thank you in advance for your help.

You'll need the Dropbox application installed and linked to your account in order to disable the backup function and delete your backup. Refer to the following help article.

Hi @KJ84, I hope you're doing well!

Just to clarify, do you wish to know more in regards to disabling the feature entirely, or how to delete content in there by any chance?

Do you get any errors when trying to delete content? You should be able to disable Backup using these steps.

Keep me posted!

I would like to delete the back up file by the web site (if it is possible).

I dont know from with device belong the back up. I am DB users since 10 or 15 years and during this time I changed many devices.

I ahve any clue to know from with one belong the back up files.

Thank you in advance for your support,

Alex
