Storage Space

Hi, on a Dropbox Basic account and when I look at 'manage account' tab it says I have 1.6 MB standard files and 383MB shared and I have no space left. However I can't see where these standard files are just the shared ones are showing up. I know you normally get a personal folder with Dropbox but I can't see it, what am I missing? I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling to ensure the backup box wasn't checked but this has not worked either. Any help appreciated.
Hey there, @Brian1231, welcome to our Community!
Let's jump right into this. As a first step, can you maybe send me a screenshot of your plan page, and what it reports there?
You also mentioned that you're using a Basic account, however what you described about your personal folder in the account, is associated with a Business plan. Is it possible that you're using a different plan?
Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there!

Hi Megan
Thanks for your help with this. I see I have confused things by mentioning a personal folder - I use Dropbox Business for work.
My request is on behalf of someone who uses Dropbox Basic but I offered help. The other information remains the same. Any ideas?
Thanks
Hi @Brian1231, shared files are those in shared folders on your account.
Any other files that aren't in shared folders would be considered standard, or private, files.

Thanks Jay
I've added a screenshot of what I see on account details page but when I look at the 'folder homepage' I can only see the shared folders. which are the only ones I need in there. I need to somehow delete these standard files to create space if I can find them.

Are the private files not visible on the normal Dropbox site?
Is it possible that the Dropbox Backup feature has been enabled, and those backups are taking up space on the account?

Hi Jay
That is definitely something I thought of but I've tried to change this on the settings and even deleted and reinstalled the app but it seems to revert to backing up if indeed this is what it is. I wondered if the account wasn't being removed fully from the PC during the uninstall?
If there is a backup on the site, it would remain there indefinitely if it wasn't disabled correctly. You can check for backups on the site to delete them manually from there.
Have you confirmed that there are no private files on the main Dropbox site, and did a size calculation on folders to ensure that it isn't caused by some large files?
