Hello Dropbox people. I see the setting is now in the Mac App but it doesn't work until you open the settings. So this means if you reboot your computer, or quit and restart DropBox, it goes back to using the light theme even if you picked dark. It's kind of annoying to have to go into settings each time to fix this.234Views1like16CommentsImpossible to get rid of the Dropbox desktop app from the startup.
It is impossible to prevent Dropbox from starting up uninvited. Preferences don't do what they should, editing registry , disabling in start-up...etc A very intrusive and annoying behaviour - if it is not fixed within a short period of time I will uninstall and stop using Dropbox. There are other solutions (Googledrive, Onedrive...etc) that are better behaving. rgs38Views0likes1CommentFeedback about not being able to link two Business accounts.
Hi, currently we can only join one single team in Dropbox (in the app, to have our personnal 2Tb folder, PLUS a buisness/team folder from client A for example that pays for 40Tb.) If we work for client B who pays DB for 25 TB, we cannot join this team, we cannot as a team make use of these 25TB we pay for, as we're already logged/connected with client A on our app, and we can't connect more than one single team to our personal account. The workarounds makes zeros sense practically (buying other computers, having multiple windows users ect.. it's absurd, obviously, even if it's the official current workaround for lack of multi-team support.) We should just be able to join Client A team folder (this we can do today.), but then also join Client B, then C ect.. Having the possibility to connect to only one single team, is outrageously bad, people cannot make a living with just one client at a time. And joining a client from our personnal account is also ridiculous as we have like 100Gb of free space on our personnal DB instead of the 40TB the client is paying for, for us to use together. Another aberration, is the need to use dummy emails to join teams, there must be some reasons but in practice it's so extremely bad to have to create a dummy email (if our client doesn't provide us with one, which perfectly happens.) just to join a DB team account. We should just be able to join any number of teams from our personnal email/account. Today we need to have empy gmails, dummies, to log/join any new team, and need to keep access to these dummy emails. So absurd. Thanks a lot !96Views0likes3CommentsWhen I access the app's settings, it won't allow me to switch my files to "available offline".
when i go into settings/preferences/sync...it has 'online only' enabled now by default and it will not allow me to select the 'available offline' option i click on it and nothing happens, ive tried restarting everything. its strange...the mouse cursor will change to the finger when i hover it over the little round check box...but nothing happens when i click it i selectively sync the folders i want on my desktop actively, and i want them to be actually offline and on my harddrive locally.88Views0likes3CommentsMy computer is registered twice on my Security page and I cannot remove it as I'm getting an error
Hello, For some reason, my computer (Mac OS) is registered twice on my dropbox account. I have tried uninstalling dropbox from the computer, but that doesn't seem to help. I have tried unlinking it from the web UI under Security > Devices, but every time I try, I get a little error notification that says "Failed to unlink [computer]. Please try again later." Any thoughts on how I can resolve this? Thanks!255Views0likes10CommentsAccessing 2 separate accounts from 1 computer
I have 2 Dropbox accounts (separate emails/logins). One is my original personal account and the other I specifically use only in connection with my business (clients send files to this second account). Recently (this year), the Dropbox app disappeared off my computer and access to the files on my original account from my computer (offline) got messed up. That issue was resolved. When I log in to one account, the content on THAT account should exist there and only there. And the other account should be accessible when logged into that account. And I should be able to switch accounts whenever I need to and not lose access to the offline files that have ALWAYS lived ON my computer with no issue (until the problems that began happening in 2025). However, the content on my second account (accessed online/web browser only) appears to have been replaced with the content from my original account. And the desktop app looks like my OFFLINE files are unlinking or getting messed up when switching account online (web browers)—no change made to the login on the desktop app. The logical account access (with separate logins) is not happening. What is the Dropbox solution for accessing the content that is supposed to be on the completely separate second account that has its own unique login?298Views0likes11CommentsCan I use the command line to update the Dropbox app to File Provider on a virtual machine?
I have the 2 TB Family account. I have DropBox installed on several virtual machines that are running Ventura latest. As installed the installation has not relocated the DropBox folder to the .../Library/CloudStorage/Dropbox location. Is there any thing I can do from the command line to force the transistion? The menu bar contains the DropBox icon, but a version of VNC is being used to drive the VM and the window that opens when the icon is clicked is just flakey. Impossible to navigate to the preferences tell it to move to FileProvider. Thanks for any help.54Views0likes1CommentDoes the desktop app support the adding of multiple Business or Personal accounts?
Regarding How to find the Dropbox folder on a computer - Dropbox Help Does the Dropbox Desktop App support the adding of multiple "Business" or "Personal" accounts? If so, in the info.json file how does the file differentiate between the multiple accounts of the same type? For example, my current setup of 1 business and 1 personal account on this computer has the following layout in the JSON. If I add a second business or personal account to this computer how will the JSON file change to include the infromation { "business": { "path": "C:\\Users\\adid\\Org Dropbox\\My Name", "host": 99999999923, "is_team": true, "subscription_type": "Business", "root_path": "C:\\Users\\adid\\Org Dropbox" }, "personal": { "path": "C:\\Users\\adid\\Dropbox (Personal)", "host": 99999999987, "is_team": false, "subscription_type": "Basic" } }Solved228Views0likes3Comments
