Device Dell Inspiron 3480 AOI Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 10 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) On my phone it is 448.2.2; I can't find an app version in my computer settings. Question or Issue My computer was going into the shop so I moved all of my important, personal files from my Desktop to Dropbox.com. When I tried to move them back, I got a message telling me to select the file folders I wanted to be on my hard drive. (I assume the rest of the folders will be hanging out on Dropbox.com and the cloud.) After selecting the relevant folders, they totally disappeared! They were not on my hard drive and no longer on Dropbox.com. I finally found a little box to check "see hidden files" on Dropbox.com. When I clicked that, they reappeared on Dropbox.com but they are nowhere to be found on my hard drive or desktop. So, I started trying to copy the relevant folders one at a time to my Desktop. I've been using DB for 10-20 years and now I can't even figure out how to transfer my files from Dropbox.com to my Desktop! I used to be able to just right click on the folder, hit copy, and hit paste on my desktop. Now it says it will only copy the link, not the actual folders. I want the actual folders! I've tried everything I can think of. I have transferred some of the folders to my email and then saved them to my Desktop. Other folders say "some files cannot be transferred" but does not give me any indication of which files can't be transferred!Specific questions: 1: I don't know how to transfer files from Dropbox.com to my desktop. 2. I can't figure out how to sync -- the instructions provided in Help do not work. I have the Dropbox app on both my computer and my phone. All of the files I have been able to move back to my Desktop do appear in my phone app. Thanks for your help! Christine77Views0likes9CommentsDropbox is still starting up and loading your accounts.
Application Affected Dropbox Device Self-Built Computer with AMD 7950X3D CPU, ASRock X870E Motherboard, Corsair 64GB DDR5 RAM, MSI Gaming X Trio RTX 4090 GPU, 2TB Samsung 9100 Pro SSD as C:\ and multiple additional SSD's and HDDs. Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 11 25H2 / Microsoft Edge 142.0.3595.41 (Official build) beta (64-bit) Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 235.4.5905 Question or Issue I installed the Dropbox Application from the Windows Store. I proceeded to complete the installation, logged in through the Browser, at which point I was asked to approve the login via the Dropbox mobile app. I accepted the login but was informed that I had too many logins (more than 3), so I deleted from logins my old iPhone, and older version of my PC (named Mike-PC) that connected 3 months prior. I was then able to complete the installation and see a Windows Explorer window listing my Dropbox Folder Structure. I closed the Windows Explorer Window and clicked on the Application. The application is stuck at "starting" By navigating to the application preferences I then see below.. Stangely, Dropbox seems to also have the signin prompt available as if I never signed in.. But I did. if I quit the process and start it up again, it does the same thing. I should also make note that I had this issue a few weeks ago and just uninstalled the program and gave up. This is me desperately hoping for a proper solution.Solved66Views0likes2CommentsHow can I remove one device from my Basic account, in order to add a new one?
I have a basic account and recently bought a new laptop that I want to sync to my account. I currently have my phone, desktop, and old laptop synced. Since the standard account only allows 3 devices, how do I remove my old laptop and add my new one?61Views0likes2CommentsWhy do I have my Dropbox files in two locations on my Windows 10 PC?
Question or Issue I am confused as to why I find my Dropbox files and folders in two locations on my Windows 10 PC. If I click on "Program files(x86)>Dropbox>Client>Dropbox" a screen with my files and folders listing comes up but is partly overlaid with half a page showing Recent Activity and Account Usage etc.details. If I click on the underlying main screen, or the overlay, the overlay disappears leaving the full screen with my Files and Folders list fully in view. Also, if I go to "Users>my initials>Dropbox" I notice that this shows with an old "Date Modified". However, when I click on this address my files and folders list appear with all recent updates. I am thoroughly confused and would be grateful if someone would kindly tell me if it is correct for my Basic Dropbox account files and folders should be showing in both the addresses as above. I note that "Recent Activity and Account Usage" etc. details do not show in the Dropbox folder within "Users" and wonder why. I also note that the Dropbox Icon is not available in the System Tray, and not just hidden, in spite of having recently deleted and replaced the Dropbox app. Thank you.Solved147Views0likes4CommentsSame Dropbox folder and for multiple Linux distros, pointing to the same account.
Hello.... I have Kubuntu 24.04 and Fedora 42 KDE distro in my machine. Each have Dropbox installed. My question is: How to set a single Dropbox folder for those 2 distros with same Dropbox account? My goal is: To preserve storage space. Thank you in advance. [EDIT] Here are steps I have done: Install Dropbox on Kubuntu and setup Dropbox as usual. Dropbox folder set to /home/kubuntu/user/Dropbox. Then, move Dropbox folder to /home/dropbox.d/Dropbox. Install Dropbox on Fedora and setup Dropbox as usual. Dropbox folder set to /home/fedora/user/Dropbox. Delete folder /home/dropbox.d/Dropbox so Dropbox folder set to in step 3 can move to this folder. FYI: /home partition on Kubuntu and Fedora is the same physic partition. It's on /dev/sda12. I've tried these steps for editing file, adding new file, delete existing file. It seems no problem here. Do my steps are correct? Or, maybe there are another steps more powerful and efficient enough?Solved115Views0likes3CommentsDropbox app produces spinning wheel when clicked on and the app won't open

New PC - free Dropbox Plan, I've used Dropbox for more than 10 years and for more than 4 years on my old PC - I'm running into problems trying to transition over to using Dropbox on my new PC. Dropbox no longer shows in File Explorer? I can no longer open Dropbox files with Libre Office? How do I add Dropbox so I can see it in File Explorer? I have downloaded the Dropbox desktop app. When I use the Dropbox app to open an "ods" format spreadsheet, it only offers me "Excel for the Web"? Yet for a file that I saved as "xlsx" format, Dropbox has added an open in google sheets option > Where did LibreOffice go as a preferred option? How do I add LibreOffice to the "open in" option? Thanks for your help and suggestions.522Views0likes7CommentsCan't find the Dropbox mobile app for Android 8 in the Play Store.
