Application Affected Dropbox (Microsoft Store version) Device Windows 11 Custom Build PC Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 11 Pro 24H2 and now 25H2 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 234.4.5591 Question or Issue On my new PC I have installed Dropbox via the Microsoft Store. It is all working, except the Dropbox icon itself is wrong in Explorer for my Dropbox folder. It is just showing a plain white piece of paper. Again this is a brand new system with a brand new install of Windows 11 Pro that I did myself - nothing weird, I didn't use any of the means to "debloat" - it is just a default Microsoft Windows 11 24H2 install. I had the problems on 24H2 and it upgraded to 25H2 the other day and that has not changed the issue. It is more of an annoyance than anything because my eyes are used to looking for the dropbox icon appearance to find it and the plain white paper doesn't stand out so much.Solved335Views0likes13CommentsHow to use my existing Dropbox folder without re-downloading the files after reinstalling Windows?
Hello I have two separate (physically separate) M2 drives, and one is (D drive) only for storing Dropbox folder. Whenever I reinstall Windows for whatever reaso,n I want to be able to use the existing folder and content without downloading it. I don't use Online Only, I use Dropbox as a RAID 1 backup (mirror). Recently, it doesn't even let me choose the existing Dropbox folder on my D drive during the first installation of the client; it says "Dropbox folder already exists, choose a different one." I don't want to download 125GB of data every time I reinstall Windows. Isn't there an easy/logical way to do it? I do not and will not use the online-only option. Thanks in advance.66Views0likes1CommentNo Dropbox options when I right-click files in the Dropbox folder

I recently reinstalled Windows on my PC, and after setting up the Dropbox application again, it created a new Dropbox folder on my desktop instead of linking to the existing one from my previous installation. Now I have two Dropbox folders: The old folder: contains all my files synced before reinstalling Windows. The new folder: created by Dropbox after reinstall, currently empty or partially syncing. I want to avoid re-downloading all my files again, as I already have them locally in the old folder. My concern is: If I manually move the files from the old folder to the new one, will Dropbox treat them as "new" files and re-upload them? That could potentially overwrite changes made by my team during the two days I was offline. Could you please advise the safest way to reconnect my local files without triggering unnecessary uploads or overwriting my team’s recent changes?67Views0likes1CommentNew experience in system tray: Clicking folder link also opens file
Application Affected Dropbox desktop app Device Desktop PC Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 11 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 233.3.4870 Question or Issue I enabled the new experience for Dropbox in the system tray. I understand that it is in beta, but a regression seems to have occurred that I would like to see addressed. When I bring up the tray popup from the icon. a list of my activity appears--files I added, when I added them, and the folder to which they were added. When I click the folder link next to the "Added (duration) ago" text, the folder opens, but so does the file. I expect that only the folder should open. If I recall correctly, only the folder opened prior to the apparent regression. I can work around this issue by disabling the new experience. In the current experience, the folder link only opens the folder as expected. I would appreciate it if this issue could be addressed before the new experience becomes the default experience.89Views0likes3CommentsI lost my Dropbox folder after my hard drive crashed. What can I do to get it back?
Recently my hard drive crashed and I lost my Dropbox folder on my desktop. I can still log into my Dropbox account, but don't have access to the folder on my desktop that mirrors what I have on Dropbox. How do I get it back so I can add files to my Dropbox account? It was suggested that I download the Dropbox app for desktop but was told I was trying to add another version of the app that wasn't allowed for my basic account. What can I do?57Views0likes2Comments
