I've been trying to install Dropbox on my Linux machine, but it has failed. The URL on the website to download Dropbox on Linux is not working. When I try to run it in the terminal, it directs me to a login page (It says it's a requirement to log in before downloading), which also does not work. Please guide me on how to make it work on my computer.Solved12Views0likes5CommentsI'm getting an error when the Dropbox app starts up on Windows 11
Device (Lenovo laptop) Operating System/Browser (if using the web) (Windows 11.) Dropbox App Version (if using the app) (latest) Question or Issue After booting the PC the dropbox App refuses to start and displays a window with the message "Couldn't start dropbox". The dropbox icon in the taskbar disapears and my files in the dropbox folder are inaccessible by Word, Excel etc. I did the "Advanced reinstall of Dropbox" as can be found in the fora but no results. I am using Dropbox for many years without any problems. Below the error report generated by Dropbox. The very last record shows FileNotFoundError but which file is not mentioned. I am really stocked but need a working Dropbox system. Hope I can find some help here. The virtual links to download dropbox https://www.dropbox.com/download https://www.dropbox.com/download?plat=lnx.x86_64 sometimes (like once in 30 tries) redirect automatically to the latest BETA build instead of the latest STABLE build. No clue why, but watch these for a couple of minutes and you'll probably see build 238.3.5977 appear while true ; do curl -sI "https://www.dropbox.com/download" | grep '^location: https:' ; sleep 1.5 ; done or while true ; do curl -sI "https://www.dropbox.com/download?plat=lnx.x86_64" | grep '^location: https:' ; sleep 1.5 ; done42Views0likes5CommentsOpenPGP signature verification failed with Debian Trixie.

Application Affected Dropbox / Windows 11 Device ASUS Vivobook Question or Issue The main issue is that Dropbox/Windows made a serious change and did not inform us. I keep ALL my files on my desktop at all times EXCEPT one "Online" folder. I was managing this fine with per folder sync behavior. The update changed that WITHOUT asking me. So I saw new icons in Windows and realized that a lot of files were missing (only in the could). A random mix. Chaos. I set the preferences back to Offline. Then proceded to the folders but hell broke loose. All folder went into a sync mode and thousands of files were being processed. Tried a reinstall in the hope to re-index. Tried many Clean re-install w fresh installer including 237.4.5655 Offline. Cleared AppData, etc. But I never can choose my existing 300Gig C:\Dropbox folder. I never get to the advanced option. I really need help !112Views0likes12CommentsDropbox installer fails to start – Windows 11 Home build 24H2 build 26100 7296
Dropbox online and offline installer – Device Dell Inspiron 16 5645 Dropbox was working fine until something was corrupted in my windows profile which meant I had to reinstall my windows profile / user account. from scratch. No AV nor defender blocking as tried switching off and having another go. I’ve downloaded the basic installer, the offline installer, older versions etc., and still the installer fails. I’ve unlinked all devices from the web version of dropbox. The an advanced reinstall (tried deleting all dropbox related folders) and whilst there are some residual registry keys that doesn't work. All other programs have reinstalled successfully. Resorting to chatgpt for support hasn't worked (wasn't even going to attempt some of the suggestions for fear of further issues). Application Affected Dropbox client (the OG app for file syncing, not sure if it has a separate name) Device HP Envy x360 Laptop Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 11 Home Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 237.4.5655 Question or Issue On November 19, the Dropbox client displayed a dialog box saying that it had been updated (along with info about some changes like the way icons would be displayed in Windows Explorer). On the same day, my default search engine in Chrome changed from Google to Yahoo. I had not installed any other client-side software or updates on my machine for several weeks so it seemed like a big coincidence that both of these would happen on the same day. Anybody else see their default search engine change from Google to Yahoo after the latest update? (There are a lot of online sources claiming if your search engine changes from Google to Yahoo it might be a sign of something worse like blatantly illegal malware. The problem with that is that since there is no "affiliate code" when you change from Google to Yahoo, it seems that there would be no way for some basement-dwelling malware writer to make a quick buck from changing your default search engine. My understanding is that this usually happens when mostly-legitimate companies make a deal with Yahoo so that their installer will ASK if you want to switch from Google to Yahoo, and then sometimes they "forget" to make sure the installer asks before switching.)Solved59Views0likes4CommentsUnable to rename the Dropbox folder to create a new folder.
Application Affected Dropbox Device PC Operating System/Browser (if using the web) Windows 11 For years, I've been using Dropbox on my PC without any problems. But today, something happened: for some unknown reason, the PC client lost authorization and asked me to log in again, as if I were launching it for the first time. That's when the problems started. Application Affected (Dropbox) Device (Powerspec PC) Operating System/Browser (if using the web) (Windows 10) Dropbox App Version (if using the app) (236.4.5918) Question or Issue I've seen a couple of questions bring this up but it never gets answered. I'm in the middle of the loop with reinstallation after having to go to a hard drive clone and it's telling me "There's already a a folder or file named Dropbox." The location where I sent it is the parent folder of "Dropbox" so it's in the location where I want it. I just want to know what happens if I click "Rename"? What does Dropbox do with the old files, and what will it do AFTER it renames the folder? Will it redownload all my files to a new folder? Will the old folder still be there? Will it actually try to merge the files? Please give me details so I can understand the entire process and not lose my files. And I assume that if I click "Choose another location" and I just create a new folder for it, Dropbox will download my entire Dropbox to that new location, correct? Thank you!209Views0likes18Comments
