Shared Folders
43 TopicsCan clients have full edit access to a shared Dropbox folder without creating an account?
Weāre having trouble setting up Dropbox to function as our agencyās main file management system for clients. Hereās what we need: We want to share individual folders with each client so they can:Upload any type of fileCreate new foldersMove files aroundDelete files or foldersFully manage their content within their own shared folderHowever, they should only have access within their own assigned folder and any subfoldersānot outside of it. The challenge weāre running into is that we want clients to have this full level of access without having to create a Dropbox account. Many of our clients arenāt tech-savvy, so we want to make this as simple as possibleājust open the link, manage files, done. Is there any way to grant full folder access and editing abilities to external users without requiring them to sign in or create an account? Or would that level of permission always require a Dropbox login? Weād love to know if thereās a workaround, setting, or third-party integration that might make this possible.Solved190Views0likes4CommentsāFailed to download folderā error when trying to download content from a shared link.
Hi Dropbox Support, Iām reaching out for assistance regarding an issue Iāve encountered while trying to download folders that were shared with me. Despite having a Dropbox Professional account, Iām repeatedly receiving a āFailed to download folderā errorāeven when the folder only contains 2 small files. Iām aware of the 20,000-item and 20 GB download limits, but the folders Iām attempting to download are well below that threshold. Could you please advise what might be causing this error and how I can successfully download the shared folders? Thank you in advance for your support.485Views0likes4CommentsExport a list of files in shared folders
Experts, I'm in a Family Plan working on a book project with 2 other users. Part of my job is to cross check a number of text and caption files for references to (roughly) 800 pictures. The image files are in directories "owned" by the respective users. To do the cross checks I need a current list of all the image file names. I gather from reading the Community that Dropbox does not support this unless one writes/finds/uses API code with that function. I am hoping for an easier way. I've read that the recommended easy way is to synchronize my desktop to the required directories and then use regular system listing and sorting commands. To be safe I don't want write access via the synchronized desktop directories/files. All I want and need is a way to do a listing of the contents of the directories via a read access. Can somebody tell me if this can be done and how? Thank you, Mike1.6KViews0likes5CommentsFull video not downloading, only part of it.
Not really sure what is going on... I have tried downloading multiple different video files that are on a shared dropbox, but the full video does not download. It says on my computer that the video is the full length, etc. but it only downloads up to about 20minutes max (usually a max of 5-7GB). (I am using a chrome browser) Has anyone had this issue and know how to resolve?1.3KViews0likes6CommentsDropbox Paper completely disappeared from new UI
I've been using Dropbox Paper since it first came out. I just noticed now the UI of Dropbox paper has been updated. However, now when I go to the Paper home, none of my papers show up. None. The entire page is empty. I did noticed that I now have a "migrated paper" folder in the main Dropbox UI. I can open this folder and access my old papers. However, why wouldn't my old paper be listed in the Paper UI? Another thing that's completely missing is shared paper folders. My partner and I have a shared paper folder. The shared folder was created by him and shared with me. I cannot find any reference to this paper folder in my Dropbox UI. Not the new Paper UI, not the main Dropbox UI. I tried to search for documents in this shared folder, and they showed up in the search result. When I click on the shared doc, Dropbox takes me to the OLD Dropbox Paper UI. What? Makes no sense! My partner's account doesn't seem to have migrated to the new Paper UI yet. When he logs into Dropbox paper he still sees the old UI. Is this ever going to get fixed? That's just insane product behavior. I'm a product designer in the enterprise world. Even in the darkest corners of enterprise product, we would never allow behavior like this. That would be a release blocker. What's going on Dropbox?177Views0likes4CommentsCan neither "copy to Dropbox" nor download folder from a shared link
I have an Essentials license with 3Tb unused space and 50Gb download limit I believe. Someone has shared a link with datasets in a Dropbox folder. Out of 200 or so folders, 13 I am unable to download saying The folder is too large to download. It won't Copy to Dropbox either. I press the button and there is simply no response. In the shared folder window, there are no options to select a number of folders. There is no way of me knowing how big the folders are. Its unbelievably poor functionality. What am I supposed to do? Is this data simply irretrievable?100Views0likes4Commentsold shared link gives "That didn't work for some reason" error
I'm trying to access some files using public sharing links i've created long time ago. All these links gives the same error message with the sad dog picture "That didn't work for some reason". I've cleared my cache, I've tried other computers, other web browsers : SAME ERROR. There is an existing thread in the forum for this, but "replies have been turned off for this discussion". The solutions proposed by dropbox staff are all similar and useless. It seems that dropbox made a change to their code that made all this old links not valid. if this is true : WHAT A SHAME FOR A FILE SHARING AND BACKUP SERVICE. if this is wrong, could you please give me a working solution without having to regenerate all the links ? hoping i'm wrong, thank you in advance, and happy new year56Views0likes1CommentNewly added documents don't show up on our Dropbox.
We are having a problem where new documents being added to our DropBox are not showing up. The person who added the documents can see them but no one else can. I can't tell what documents are and are not syncing either. Right now some of our documents from 2 months ago aren't showing up.Solved360Views0likes16Comments
