“Failed to download folder” error when trying to download content from a shared link.

Hi Dropbox Support,

I’m reaching out for assistance regarding an issue I’ve encountered while trying to download folders that were shared with me.

Despite having a Dropbox Professional account, I’m repeatedly receiving a “Failed to download folder” error—even when the folder only contains 2 small files. I’m aware of the 20,000-item and 20 GB download limits, but the folders I’m attempting to download are well below that threshold.

Could you please advise what might be causing this error and how I can successfully download the shared folders?

Thank you in advance for your support.

Hey there, Katie123, welcome to our Community!

Does this only happen when you try to download your shared folders, or with non-shared content too?

Have you tried using an entirely different browser, or even an incognito tab just in case this is a temporary browser issue?

One more thing: are you accessing these shared folders through a shared link, or are they added to your Dropbox account?

Let me know more, and we'll investigate further!

    Thanks for getting back.

Yes, the issue happens only with shared folders. I’ve already tried using an incognito window and different browsers like Firefox and Safari, and I’ve also cleared my cache... still no luck.

I’m currently accessing the folders through a shared link, and they’re not added to my Dropbox account directly.

    Hey Katie123!

To confirm, is it only this link that you are having issues with?

Are you successful when you try to add the folder to your Dropbox account? Have you had issues downloading/adding to Dropbox with any other links from this sender?

Also, can you please provide a screenshot of the error you receive?
