54 TopicsIs there a way to turn off auto-play for audio files in the Dropbox iOS app?
Device (iPhone 14 Pro Max) Operating System/Browser (if using the web) (18.6.2) Dropbox App Version (if using the app) (450.2.2) Question or Issue We use Dropbox for our choir to store backing tracks and music scores. When we open an audio file, it plays automatically. Is there a way to stop the auto play. We need to use this on our phone for when we sing outdoors or in aged care facilities as we don't have room for a computer. I have tried turning the loop function off, but it is off on all files already. I don't want to have to use a desktop version. I just want the ability to use the app but to be able to turn off auto play in the settings. I can see that someone else had this issue 7 years ago and it looks like it has still not been fixed. Can I please vote for an auto play off button, as an update?25Views0likes1CommentHow can I loop certain video files but not loop others on iOS?
Device iPhone Operating System/Browser (if using the web) iOS 18.7.1 Dropbox App Version (if using the app) 446.2.2 Dropbox Plan Plus Question or Issue Hello. I like to loop certain video files but not loop others and have the settings save to that specific file. Is this not possible? I can play a file on loop, but if I change another file to NOT loop, then it changes the file I had set to loop, off. I'm not sure if there's a problem or if this is a limitation of the software?56Views0likes2CommentsCan I view symlinks on the mobile iOS app?
Hi. I've had to move all my files to my local/internal hard drive and use symlinks within dropbox to keep them backed up but now i cant access any of them remotely. The reason for moving them is because it was causing me all sorts of issues when running the files directly from within dropbox / file provider. Does anyone know a way of symlinks being possible to view within the iOS app or website? Thanks83Views0likes3CommentsUnable to open an Excel file from Dropbox using the Microsoft Excel app on iPhone
I’ve been trying many times to open the excel sheet on my Dropbox app but to no avail. I even uninstall the Microsoft excel app as per other forums’ suggestions but the same problem persists. It says “Somthing went wrong and excel sheet can’t open.” I have attached the screenshot for your reference. I only have 1 email attached to 1 Dropbox account. Can someone help me out?Solved140Views0likes8CommentsMy .txt files appear empty when previewing them on the iOS mobile app
Hello everybody. I have created txt files in my Desktop Dropbox App. On my PC I can read them, no problem. However on the mobile Apps (iPhones, iPAD) I can see the .txt files and their titles, but when I open them the files are empty. This happens only on the mobile Apps; in fact, wehn I open the files from the Dropbox App of my desktop PC, I can see their content. It's relevant to mention that this seems to happen only on the most recent .txt files. In fact, the old txt files that are on my Dropbox mobile Apps can be opened and read without any problem. Can anyone help in solving this problem?148Views0likes5CommentsDropbox mobile app won't show search results.
Devices IPads, Android smart boards, Dropbox Website Operating System/Browser (if using the web) IOS, IPAD OS, Android, Microsoft Edge Dropbox App Version/Browser Version Dropbox 440.2.2, IOS 18, Android 13/14, Edge v. 139 (Arm/64 bit) Question or Issue Our company Dropbox recently has had an issue with searching for files in one specific folder. The folder in question has many PDF files in it for employees to grab to find specifications for building jobs. On the windows Dropbox app the files can be found in search easily, but on the mobile apps / Dropbox website it will say "No Results Found"... If you scroll manually through the folder the files are there and can be open but cannot be searched for. Another weird problem is that the files that are not showing up will not show any version history and an error message will pop up (see screenshot). It almost feels like the Dropbox backend is not indexing the files on the cloud. Any help would be appreciated!159Views0likes7CommentsDisplay thumbnails for .procreate files on the iOS mobile app.
Hello all, I use Dropbox to back up artwork created with the iPadOS application Procreate. They use a proprietary format called .procreate, and I prefer to save in this format for maximum compatibility with the app if I decide to work on a particular piece again in the future. However, when browsing these files in the Dropbox app, no thumbnails are displayed, which makes it hard to differentiate between files (since I’ve neglected to give them descriptive file names, lol). I think this integration would be useful to many people who use Dropbox on iPadOS, because Procreate is a very popular app and digital art fills up storage really fast! I also think that this integration would be doable, if not trivial, for the following reasons: The native Files app can display thumbnails for .procreate files. People have made plugins to display .procreate thumbnails on MacOS, Windows, and Linux operating systems. The .procreate file format seems to just be a zip archive, so displaying a thumbnail would just be a matter of extracting the image from the archive. A Procreate developer on the Procreate forums stated that this integration would need to be done on Dropbox’s end. In conclusion, my workflow would be greatly enhanced by adding thumbnail support for Procreate files. :)
