Can’t download PDF file, only folder containing PDF files

I am on macOS using Safari. Everything is on the latest version.

I have a PDF file in one of my Dropbox folders. I tried downloading it to my Mac. I clicked on the myriad ways that the Dropbox page offers a Download command. It would not download. Then, when I proceeded to try to download the containing folder, it happened without any hiccups.

Why is this?

  • Hey there RabanusMaurus, welcome to our Community!

Can you please clear your browser's cache or try another browser/incognito window and let us know how it goes?

If you still notice the same behavior, I'd appreciate a screenshot too.

    Thanks!

Hi Megan! Thanks for the suggestion to use a private browsing window. When I did, the file downloaded as expected. I guess my copy of Safari is messed up. I also probably have too many windows open. I will clear the Dropbox cookie and try again, this time in a regular browser window. Then I will report back.

So clearing the cache and deleting the Dropbox cookies did not help. Clicking on Download does not download the PDF. Next, I will restart my Mac. I have had other issues with Safari, which weren’t fixed by closing it and re-launching it. Maybe a restart will fix those.

    Restart doesn’t fix it.

Maybe the cause is that I have so many tabs open.

Hi from me too, RabanusMaurus! Out of curiosity, is this happening for other PDFs, as well?

Did you check your Safari browser to make sure there aren’t any pending updates to be installed?

It may also help to restore your browser to its default settings and disable any browser plugins. The issue you're experiencing may be the result of a security setting or a plugin that you have installed on your browser.
