Cannot open any Excel file in my Dropbox account
I cannot open any excel file on my dropbox account that I was able to 3 weeks ago. What happened and how can I get to my file?
I was able to find an older xcel version that had a few updates I had to make again to it but was able to recover it from the "restore" option.

Hi there, Agoldman22 and sorry to see that you're having an issue.
Why are you not able to open your files? Are you getting some kind of error message?
Also, where are you having this issue? On the Dropbox website, the mobile app or your local Dropbox folder?
Any additional info or screenshots that could give us more context, would be helpful.
Thanks!

Any time I go to my drop box and click on the same file I have hosted there and udpated for years has an odd black icon next to it instead of the normal green excel logo. I have had this file on dropbox since 2013 and updated it regularly and now its unable to be opened.
I get this image to the right and the icon next to the file is dark grey not excel.

I have tried it on chrome where I always access the excel sheet, msft edge, desktop app, on a mac and a pc. I have had others who I share access attempt to log in, all having no luck.
And I have tried to log several tickets or get any help on the portal from service and get nothing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I get that I don't pay for DB perosanlly, but use it with my business all the time. The lack of response is infuriating and these are important files. I will gladly move all to another place if someone can't have the decency to let me know what is going on here.

HI Agoldman22, from the screenshot, it looks like the file doesn't have an extension on it, since it just ends on a date.
Did you rename the file at some point? If you add .xlsx at the end of the file name, does the file open normally?

I was able to restore the xcel file but still not sure what the original issue was and want to be confident this won't happen again

I'm glad to see that you were able to restore the file, but can you let us know how you did that, Agoldman22?
Did you do it the way Jay suggested?
