Whenever I try to view a file someone has sent me, the Dropbox app in my phone (Android, Samsung Galaxy S9+) says "couldn't connect to DropBox, please check your internet connection". I have internet...

I'm not sure what you mean by "preview" the file. I can't preview it on my desktop. All I know is that I can't open video files on my phone when someone sends me a dropbox link to a video.

I am facing a similar problem with the android app.
Currently running 192.2.2.
Problem for me lies with loading all my files and folders through the app.
Navigating to "Home" I can see recent files and they're accessible.
However, when navigated to "files" I get the error as daddiolong. "Cannot connect to dropbox, make sure you're online and try again"

Hi GlennSG; thanks for joining our discussion here and sorry to hear about the issue you're going through.
I'm not sure if this will do the trick, but can you please try to install our beta version of the mobile app on your Android devices and let me know if you're still noticing this?
Keep me posted!

I just installed the App again, dont know if Beta
same problem
- DeenMY6 years agoHelpful | Level 5I face exactly the same issue and situation with @GlennSG. Same version of Dropbox too. No further updates in Play Store. Happened recently abt 2 weeks ago. I'm using Samsung A50. Other android devices also same issue. I've registered for the Beta version and waiting for the update. Kindly solve the issue ASAP as I rely alot on accessing my files thru my mobile app. No issue with the desktop version.

Same problem on my S10. I also eagerly await a solution
- Robinsomerville6 years agoExplorer | Level 4I have the same on my Mi 9T Pro. It shows me recent files in Home but gives the same error message as others when going to Files

Yes, after a few attempts, i somehow managed to install the beta version as recommended by @Walter (but the process is not so clear cut for a non-IT guy like me), and now it works again.
Question is, how long do I stay on this beta version and when a new update is available, does it mean that i'll be back to the public version once I update the app again?

Yep me too, can't connect etc. Samsung note10+ dropbox version 192.2.2
- GlennSG6 years agoHelpful | Level 6I reckon the next version of the app should be fixed. Beta tests are usually the last lap before public release.
- DeenMY6 years agoHelpful | Level 5Installing the beta version as suggested by Walter would solve the issue:
