I downloaded my files and got a corrupt file
Hi,
I had to register again to try and solve this issue cuz I really want to recover my files. I had videos and photos very important to me and I can't believe I lost them now. So, please, anyome, if you can help me I'll be really thankful!
So, first, I decided to delete my previous account. For reasons, I had Dropbox for a long time and I had 5GB of space. I downloaded this files and decided to delete my previous account. In part, I am to blame for not checking before deleting my account... But the file I downloaded, didn't give me any sort of error and neither Dropbox told me I could or couldn't download my files. So, I did what I'm used to do. Grab a folder, download that folder and then delete the files.
So, now it turns out that the file I downloaded around 2GB, can't be opened. It doesn't show me any files, even though the zip says it has a little over 2GB of files. Please help! Is there a way I can recover my files?

I was fearing that... but I still have the zip file, there's absolutely nothing I can do about it?Nothing from the Dropbox side as you already deleted the account. I'd try opening the Zip file on another computer, or maybe use a different software such as 7Zip, Winrar, etc., to see if they can open it.

Okay, Rajesh, so to make sure I understand correctly, you've created a link, and when you're downloading files from the link, they seem corrupted, right?
When accessing the files from the link, without downloading, do they open?

Hey albo99 - sorry to hear about this.
Could you provide some additional information about the issue you're facing along with screenshots of any errors you might be getting so that we can have a visual too?
Thanks!

Hi albo99, sorry to jump in here!
Have you tried to download the file, using an entirely different browser than the one you're currently on? If you try to preview the file online, are you able to open it there?
- albo993 years agoExplorer | Level 3
yes ive tried chrome and edge, preview works perfectly fine. But the download just finishes after approx. 1 hour and acts like it finished. Ive tryed it multiple time now on different devices.
When i try to open the download link after a while, this comes up:

Hi albo99, let's try one more thing.
If I understand this correctly, it seems you're trying to download the file using a shared link, am I right? If not, feel free to correct me.
Provided this is the case, can you try adding the file to your account -if you have enough space to host it- and then download it straight to your device?
Also, do you have the desktop app installed to your device?
