I have the same issue. Still getting 'link' on documents 'where are my files". I want to get all of my files back on my computer as I no longer want to use Drop Box.

3 years agoHey dockap, if backup is off for your computer, and you still have the Dropbox app installed, you should be able to reset your desktop folders back to their original locations, by following these steps:
1) Click the Dropbox icon in your menu bar.
2) Click your profile picture or initials.
3) Click 'Preferences'.
4) Click the 'Accounts' tab.
5) Press the Option key and at the same time click the 'Reset OS folders locations' button.
Let me know how it goes!

Hi dockap, are you holding down the Option/Alt key on your keyboard when viewing that tab?

Yes holding down Option key I get this:
Fix permissions
Fix Hardlinks
Reset File System Warning options
Add team accounts
So which of these phrases is the one to which you refer? The choice you supplied is not here and since I no longer trust this software I'm not hitting anything that is not clearly explained
The ongoing discussion really reinforces my thinking I have to say. In fact, considering closing the account completely rather than just using it as a cloud with no backing up and just saving a few files or if I have to use it with some work I do with others.
