PDF not displayed in Dropbox Paper if the preview is compressed
Hi Team,
I'm using Dropbox Paper.
I have a few PDF's in paper.
The preview of the PDF's work but if it is compressed and you want to click on it to view it, this error occurs:
"www.dropbox.com refused to connect."
On the console there is also an error:
"Refused to frame 'https://www.dropbox.com/' because an ancestor violates the following Content Security Policy directive: "frame-ancestors 'self'"."
As I understood, this issue existed on Dropbox (regular web app; not paper) as well. But this has been fixed according to this entry:
https://www.dropboxforum.com/t5/Discuss-Dropbox-Developer-API/dropbox-embedder-getting-quot-ancestor-violates-the-following/td-p/693267
I hereby ask the developers to fix this issue on paper as well in order to be able to view PDF's in paper again.
And before you ask, yes, I have deleted cache, used another browser, disabled extensions, tried on a different computer (Windows / Mac) and also on another network + on incognito windows.
Tested with:
- MacBook Pro (2019 - Sonoma): Safari (latest) / Chrome (latest)
- Windows 11: Chrome (Version 119.0.6045.160 Official Build 64-bit) / Firefox (120.0 64-bit)
Many thanks in advance for your reply!

Hi Jay.
I've tried it just now with 3 different Azure VM's (Frankfurt, Ohio and Tokio) without success. This seems to be an issue on Dropbox side, not network or Firewall related. May I ask you to investigate further on this issue? And back to your question, I'm using paper.dropbox.com; not any other paper.
Many thanks!

Hi nexon, does this only happen with compressed .pdf files?
- nexon2 years agoExplorer | Level 3
Hi Megan, "compressed" is the wrong term I've used. I meant a PDF inserted in "compact" mode.
However, if I use "full" mode, I can see a preview, however as soon as I click on it, it is not displayed (same error).
Full mode:

If you send me an e-mail or PN, I can send you the link to my paper so you can explore the issue yourself.

Hi Nancy, thanks for reverting back. Yes, the issue still persists. Could you please send me the E-Mail address or send me an E-Mail to the address which belongs to my account? The link doesn't work for me.
Thanks a lot!

Hi @walter - we are having the same issue - receiving the same error msg when we try to click on PDF files inserted in Paper docs. Older Paper docs do not have this issue. Can you please post the solution or email directly to assist?
