Deleting folder problems at dropbox.com

I pressed delete to delete the folder, but "Deleting 1 item" appears at the bottom of the screen, and the square icon spins round and round, but the delete is not possible.  Having trouble deleting the function from dropbox.com right now?

How large is the folder? If it's large (in size or quantity) it can take a long time to delete and you just need to wait it out.

I am trying to delete an empty folder. It attempts to delete for a couple of minutes and then gives up. I can delete an individual file but not more than one file or any folders. This used to work with no problem. It appears that the PC I am using is the only device logged onto Dropbox. I don't understand why it is no longer working.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi messiaen, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Do you get any errors when attempting to delete files?

Are you trying to deleting files from the Dropbox site or from your computer in the Dropbox folder?

This will help me to assist further!

    Hi Jay

    Thanks for your reply.

I did get an error if I waited long enough. It reported that it could not delete 2 files (when I attempted to delete two files earlier today).

When I have attempted to delete an empty folder it just appears to hang for several minutes until I gave up. So it may have eventually reported a similar error if I had waited long enough.

All deletions were attempted on the Dropbox site.

I have since installed the desktop version and if I add files to the local folder, they appear on the site; if I delete them in the local folder they are deleted from the site as well.

So the problem appears to be deleting a folder or multiple files on the site. I can delete a single file on the site without problem.

    With regards,

    Jonathan

It looks like this is a common problem that's happening for a lot of users. I've deleted all the contents (1 by 1 by the way cause dropbox won't let you delete multiple at a time without it being stuck) and even when I try to delete an empty folder, I get a the circulating square. I've left my computer on over an hour and it still hasn't deleted it.

Well, at least now know it's not something I've done.

    Thanks for mentioning this.
