Editing Word document on Android mobile

I am able to edit Excel files stored in Dropbox; however, Word documents say Read Only and state I need to say a copy of my original file to be able to edit it.  I can't see anything different in the signin information or app settings within Word and Excel.  Is this a known issue or do you have a suggestion in trouble shooting this issue?

Hey Eumelchen98 , sorry to jump in here, but could you clarify the device's OS version and the versions of the apps installed there as well (both the Dropbox app and the Microsoft ones)?

Also, how large is the screen of your mobile device?

Hey Eumelchen98  , are the Word files you're trying to edit saved in Office 2007 or later?

If you access Word, and try to open the Dropbox file directly from there, does it change the situation at all?
