I lost edits going back days

So I just lost edits to an essay I was working on. Everything was fine 5 hours ago, and I'm always on wifi so my document was synced. But then, as I was editing on my phone 2 hours later, I noticed my recent significant edits were gone. I thought it was a Word for android thing, but after checking my laptop and version history on both word and dropbox, my edits are completely gone. My version history goes back just 2 hours ago which is I assume when I opened the document on my phone. Everything before that is just gone. I don't know what happened and I am in desperate need for help. I've lost edits before going back months, and it's why I stopped using Onedrive in the first place, opting for dropbox.

Thanks for the extra info, Ewamscion

What I can suggest, since this sounds a bit odd indeed, is to log a ticket for you and send it to this email address. I can’t guarantee we’ll be able to see much more, but it may be worth to have a look.

I’m really sorry to hear this, Ewamscion

Before opening your Word document on your phone to edit it, did you check www.dropbox.com and/or your desktop app and everything was looking up to date there?

Did anything at all happen, when you started editing on your mobile device, that could have affected this?

Have you also checked your Events page to see if it reports something more?

Let me know when you’ve got more updates.

      Hey, Nancy.

Before I stopped working on the document on the desktop, my file was already synced. I remember because I opened a different file from the Dropbox icon on the toolbar. Then later I opened the file on my phone through the Word app on my phone and everything was fine and perfectly normal until I realized it was missing crucial edits so I stopped working on it then. But the problem wasn't just on my phone. When I later opened the file on my desktop, there seemed to be an update on the Dropbox badge.

I just checked the events page and the events with this particular document began 2 hours ago: You edited the file, You deleted the file, and You added the file. I didn't do any of that but I did uninstall and reinstall Dropbox (which is the most recent event). Important to note is that I have been working on this document for the past few days and everything has been fine, and everything has been syncing properly. I've ever had such a problem with onedrive where I lost edits going back months, so I always make sure my documents are secure on the cloud.
