Unable to edit documents via Office apps on iPad

Previously I could edit documents saved in Dropbox using the various Microsoft Office apps on my iPad.  This week I am now unable to edit or save documents unless I have a Microsoft 365 Subscription....

Hey Luddite, sorry to jump in here, but could you clarify how many inches your iPad's screen is?

 

As outlined here, if you're using a tablet larger than 10", Microsoft requires that you have an O365 license to use Office applications.

I am using a large tablet so will need an O365 subscription. 😡
