Cannot remove sharing restriction from my Dropbox account.

I have received an email for the third time saying I have been banned from sharing for exceeding bandwidth limit. I had no idea such a restriction existed. I have a basic Dropbox account, but have built up a capacity of 13.2Gb owing to hardward deals I have bought in the past that has increased my allowance. I have used 8.31Gb of space, so loads of headroom. I only usually share a couple of folders with friends and this has worked continually quite happily for years. These folders are about 1.6Gb. For some reason I am now getting this ban for sharing. I have gone into Dropbox online and removed every old sharing link I can find; it has no effect. I cannot unban the account on the link, just get a message saying 'something's gone wrong. Contact support', which I can't do on the basic plan. Advice please on how to remove the ban and share within the allowance. Thanks!

I have just shared a file from the online version of Dropbox and it accepted the share. So does this mean my sharing capability s back on? I've attached the screen shot of the error message I get whn clicnking the 'unban' link.

Hi Twopan, we'll get to the bottom of this together!

Can you send me a screenshot of the message you mentioned, in order for me to have a visual too?

You also mentioned that the files don't seem to be the problem. Do you mean that you can share an individual file without any issues?

Hi Megan- thanks. No, the files themselves don't seem to be the problem. I don't get any specific errors. The suspension always refers to exceeding bandwidth. It is now five days since I got the last email from Dropbox saying I was banned from public sharing. However the unban link still does nothing. I get the same error message each time' something's gone wrong. Contact support'.  Thanks.

Hi there, Twopan, let's jump right into this!

It sounds like access to your sharing was paused on your account.

Have you checked this article to see if any of the files you're trying to share, or have already shared breaches the Terms of Service? You can also take a look here for more info.

Lastly, how long has it been since you received an email from Dropbox informing you about that? Can you try to share a brand new file/folder inside your account and see if you get any specific errors?

Let us know more and we'll take it from there.
