Conflicted file issues

Currently, there are approximately 10 users using Business Dropbox, and we are experiencing numerous issues. These issues include frequent creation of conflicted files, even when users are not accessing the same file. Additionally, conflicted files cannot be deleted, as they keep restoring themselves after deletion. Is there a way to resolve this problem? For instance, can we separate the 10 users into different groups and limit their access to specific files? If this persistent issue with conflicted files persists, we are contemplating a switch to a different platform.

What would be the best solution?

Hi dennis_c, thanks for bringing this to our attention.

If conflicted copies are being created, this could be due to the file being open on someone's machine, or someone is editing the file at the same time.

Could you check the event history of the file to see which user and machine created the file? This might help locate if it's coming from a specific user or computer.

Keep me updated with any progress!

Sorry to jump in here, dennis_c.

What types of files is this happening with?

If it's with Microsoft Office files, you can use the Dropbox badge; you can see how to enable this feature here.

When I try to delete those 0kb files, it keep returning back.

Is it even possible to delete them when using DROPBOX?

No one is accessing the files other than myself and it keep returning back.

Please give us solution to this.

I'm paying almost $3200 yearly and drobox consistently having issues.

I'm about to change to different platform as it is not worth staying with dropbox if this cannot be fixed.

I already searched posts about this and seems like there is no **bleep** solution around here.

Are you having this issue only with Adobe Illustrator files on your Dropbox account? If you haven’t already, please try to test this by deleting a couple of other files to see if they’ll come back, as well.

Is there any chance that any of these files are currently open on a different device that’s linked to your account?

I have noticed that this issue has not been fixed for a long time.

Instead of saying "please check version history" or "please use lock function" or badge function.

    Give us actual solution please?

My site has come up with some conflicting files and I am not sure how to fix it. We only have 30 days of backups. Conflict on some files go beyond that. I did a restore on one file that had a good version, but the result showed up as conflicted. The ones that have no good backup can be recreated, so if I could delete the previous versions, I would be ok. But there is no option to delete an individual version. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

Hey johnpd, sorry to see you're having trouble.

Have you taken a look into this article with info about conflicted copies, to see if any of the reasons for their creation, sound like something that might have happened in your case?

There is an Open Office data base file involved so that would be almost impossible to resolve. What we want to do is delete the conflicting files and roll back to a back up I have from earlier in the month which I think is good. But there is no option to delete particular versions.  There are three of us updating these files. I tried a restore from another person that did an update. His file shows no conflicting message. But after the restore, that restored file now shows the conflicting message with my name associated with it. I don't know what we can do to get rid of this. How do we get back to ground zero. This is a confusing mess.
