Couldn't upload. Give Dropbox permission to access this file
Hello-
I'm running MacOS 13.0.1 and recently, I have had no luck removing the single badge notification. I have tried everything, reinstalled dropbox several times and now i've removed everything (including hidden files) from the folder I'm syncing and am still receiving the following message regarding a mysterious ".localized" file which dropbox cannot show me when i click 'Go to file:" "Couldn't upload. Give Dropbox permission to access this file."
I need help- I am paying for this service at this point and I really need the application to perform properly.
Thanks
Mike

Yes, I am using the Backup feature as well.

It's possible that this file is created by an app or service which is syncing via the backup feature. As it begins with a dot, it might appear as a hidden folder on Mac OS devices.

True, but (1) why can the file not be found? (2) does the error cause any problems? (3) can the error be "switched off" or circumvented?
Apart from this annoyance I have found Dropbox features and functionality very good for integrated use of Macs and PCs across multiple sites.

Hey AlanBustany, sorry to jump in here, but could you clarify what the issue is here?
Is this error just a visual issue or is it affecting your work somehow?
Could you send us a screenshot of the error so that we can have a look too?
Where are the files that are giving you this error coming from?

Hi Walter, sorry for the delay in replying as I have been away for a week. The error does not appear to affect anything much. Screen shot of the error is
As you can see a backup appears to have worked fine despite the error.
I cannot find the relevant file (.localized) even when looking for hidden files, and I have no idea where it is coming from.

Hey AlanBustany, sorry to jump in.
Does the "go to file" option in the sync issues tab not work for you?
If you follow the steps below, do they help?
1) Click on the Dropbox icon in your menu bar and then click your profile picture or initials
2 Select 'Preferences'
3) Click on the 'Account' tab
4) Hold down the 'Option/Alt' key
5) Click on the 'Fix Permissions' button (make sure you're still holding down the 'Option' key.

i started up dropbox.app for the first time since disengaging it back when this issue first became unsolvable and low and behold, it synced up just fine, so the issue seems to have resolved itself for me. now attempting to unsubscribe from this post. good luck!

The "go to file" option goes ... nowhere!
The hidden 'Fix Permissions' under the Option key seems to have worked in the short term, I will report back in a week if that fix has worked in the longer term.
Thanks.

Nope, the same old warning resurfaced. It doesn't appear to cause problems, but it sure is annoying and does not reflect well on the product.

Hey AlanBustany, sorry to hear about this.
Could you send us a screenshot of the warning you get and also clarify the app's version and status as shown in your menu bar at the moment?
