Drag & drop photos from another web-page stopped working.

I've been using dropbox on web browser (tried chrome, safari, opera and brave) on my mac MacOS Ventura 13.6.7.

I have tons of photos (mostly png and jpg) posted on my blogs (blogger, tumblr and wordpress) and used to drag the photos directly from the blog to dropbox. However since a few days ago, dropbox started showing "Create a new shortcut" popup instead of uploading the photo, when a photo from a webpage is dropped.

Now I have to once download the photos from my blog to local and then drag & drop from finder to dropbox, which is a huge pain.

Is there a way to get the function back?

Thanks in advance

Hey weirdkid47, thanks for posting here!

I just tested this on my end, and it seems to have worked.

However, I didn't use blogger, Tumblr or Wordpress I simply googled for an example image, and dragged it to my Dropbox account.

The file uploaded without an issue. Keep in mind, I'm using Chrome.

Is it possible that you changed something in the process that you follow on your end?

    Let me know more!

    Thanks for your reply.

I tried again on chrome, and also tried dragging images from some random websites other than blogger or tumblr, but unfortunately it still shows "Create a new shortcut" popup and never uploads the photos.

Hey weirdkid47, would you mind sending me a couple of step-by-step screenshots, in order for me to have a visual too?

    Sure, of course.
This is Chrome, but it does the same on Safari, Opera and Brave.

    1. open dropbox and a webpage with images

    2. drag an image

    3. drop the image to dropbox

I used to upload photos from my blogs this way and can't think of anything I changed.

    Thanks for your reply.

I cleared cache and tried again, on chrome, safari and brave, but these all show the popup and do not upload the photo.

I just tested it on Windows/Firefox and it does the same. It tries to create a new shortcut, rather than upload the image to Dropbox.

    Thanks for checking guys.

weirdkid47 can you let me know when you first noticed this behavior?

Also, which browser releases/versions are you using?

Are you getting the same behavior on Incognito/private browsing windows as well?

I guess I first noticed it last weekend, so sometime around 21st June.

    My current browsers are;
    Chrome Version 126.0.6478.63
    Safari Version 16.6
    Brave Version 1.67.119
I'm using these on MacOS Ventura 13.6.7.

Just tried on incognito mode but it does the same, only creates a new shortcut and doesn't upload any image.
