Files with a green checkmark don't appear online
Hello!
I have three files on my machine that have a green check mark but are not synced online. I was wondering why this could be? So far I have quit and re-started dropbox, signed out and back in dropbox. These files are not 'online-only' and I don't have selective sync.
The file sizes are 20MB, 15KB and 5KB
thank you in advance!

Thanks for posting here, skuchukh1!
Are you looking at the same Dropbox account on your desktop app and online?
If yes, I’d like one screenshot of the files within your local Dropbox folder, and one more showing what you see online (in the same filepath where your files should be showing).
Let me know when you’re ready.

Hi Nancy
Yes - I am using the same 'Advanced' account. Note that I have dropbox app on my a) work desktop b) personal desktop.
Attached 2 screenshots are from the DB folder on local, work desktop. The 3rd shot is from online DB. As you see the most recent files are from this morning in the folder (named _AGO and _BEN) but on my cloud DB its from yesterday and named _SLE.
Odd thing is that on that even though files are located on the work desktop DB folder (where I am running my analyses and saving docs) they are not showing up in the DB folder on my personal computer -- probably because they are not synced to the cloud in the first place?
Could this be because I have not made any changes to the previously saved files in the same folder?

Thanks for these screenshots! This is a bit odd, indeed.
If you check your menu bar, do you see the small Dropbox icon at the moment? If yes, let me know its app version and syncing status.
Besides this type of files, does the Dropbox app sync new files to your account online? I’d like you to add a small photo or document to the Dropbox folder on your work desktop and then check if it appears on www.dropbox.com.

Hello Nancy
my DB version is v197.4.7571 on both my work desktop and home computer.
I inserted a .png file in the same folder on my work desktop and it appeared immediately on the online DB account as well as on my personal computer dropbox folder!! So this is odd!
The sync status is all synced on my work desktop. same is the case on my personal computer. there is a red notification button but I'm unsure what that pertains to (see screenshot).
THank you

Hey skuchukh1, have you tried moving these files outside of your Dropbox folder, and then add them back in there, by any chance?

Megan what you suggest worked! I moved the files out and back in the folder on my work desktop and they are synced to the cloud and my personal laptop.
The thing is that the files I am creating are not new, i'm trying to over-write files with the same name and the same content. E.g. there is a file named "dropbox_april.docx" already in the folder and I am trying to save and sync the file with the same content and same name. does this have something to do with the weird issue? For example, I tried changing the file name on my work computer and oddly, the name also got changed in my personal computer BUT the file was not recorded as newly synced to DB, the 'older version/previously saved version' of the file remained.

Hi skuchukh1, could you try to create a new file to see if this get synced to the site?
Also, could you try uploaded an edited version a the file to the site to see if it syncs to the computer?

Jay yes, I was able to add a different file to the folder which synced fine. as mentioned above I tried changing the file name on my work computer and oddly, the name also got changed in my personal computer BUT the file was not recorded as newly synced to DB, the 'older version/previously saved version' of the file remained.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by the older version? Could you attach a screenshot showing what you're describing to assist further?

The thing is that the files I am creating are not new, i'm trying to over-write files with the same name and the same content. E.g. there is a file named "dropbox_april.docx" already in the folder and I am trying to save and sync the file with the same content and same name. For example, I tried changing the file name on my work computer and oddly, the name also got changed in my personal computer BUT the file was not recorded as newly synced to DB, the 'previously synced version' of the file remained. For example you see in one folder the sync date is today for GNQ, 8am and in other April 20, BUT the name has been reflected in GNQ_1.
