Files won't save
Twice in the last 7 weeks I've been completely unable to save a document. I've tried renaming it, and it won't rename-- it just stays as the original name. No error message. The system "blinks" and reverts back to the original name each time I go to "save as" and try to update the file name. The side box pops up each time: "Meet the dropbox badge" as if I've opened a new file. The document continues to say it was last updated 3 months ago when I just did 30 minutes of work on it this morning and tried to save it repeatedly. I can save my Word doc as a pdf-- that's the only saving I can do. But, that means I can't open it up and continue to work on it later this afternoon.
I primarily use the desktop app. However, the file is not saving online, either. It is not the same file that had this same problem in early March, making me worry that I could lose work on any file at any time. There was no warning that something was wrong with the file when I started working on it.
I'm afraid to close the document now for fear of losing my work. What can I do??
This is a Windows 11 computer. No other issues have occurred with it. Last time, Dropbox said this happened because the system had a recent update. However, that is not the case this time!

Had this problem today :( First time ever. Word doc. Adding to it, saving (or so I thought) and then when I tried to close out, it would bring the save mode, so I went with it a few times but would never close. Stupidly, I presumed it was a glitch of appearance, since I'd saved it numerous times but never to close it. So I closed without saving, and it is no where to be found. 2 files, same day, about 8 hours of work for each :( I am on a mac, and the files are offline except when I use them they go to laptop/desktop to work on.
I am appalled. My concern is it is a Dropbox sync issue and now I am like, do I NOT want to use Drobbox sync? My main objective with Dropbox all these years. I am so F'd right now and looking at another 8 hours means working til 5 in the a.m. :( - Laura8888 months agoHelpful | Level 7
I have also tried the following: Cutting/pasting the document from my folder to another location. I am able to move it that way, but it's the old version that's moving, not what I'm trying to save. I opened that second document in the new location and also cannot make changes to it there, either. When I try to close the document, dropbox asks me if I want to save it, and I say yes. But, since it won't save, it continually asks me if I want to save each time I try to close is.
