How can I remove viewed links on Dropbox?
how to remove viewed links on dropbox
Hello everyone, just wanted to provide a quick update on Viewed Links since its been a while since this thread was updated.
In the Dropbox mobile app, the Viewed links section that appears on the Home tab can now be hidden by using the built-in customization options. You cannot delete individual viewed links one by one yet, but you can remove the entire section from the Home view so it does not show up anymore. To do that you:
- Open the Dropbox mobile app.
- Go to the Home tab.
- Scroll down and tap the Customize icon at the bottom.
- In the list of sections, toggle off Viewed links.
- Tap Save to apply.
This hides the section from your Home tab.
What is still not possible
- You cannot individually delete single links from the Viewed links list.
- There is no current feature to clear the history of viewed links while keeping the section.

Hey Teasy, I hope you're doing well!
Are we referring to the Dropbox desktop app or mobile app?
If we're referring to the mobile app, have you tried clearing the app's cache, by any chance to see if that helps at all? Have you tried the steps Hannah mentioned here?
Let me know more!

Megan, many thanks for you anwers. But could I come back to the question we started: How can I disable the history of my "viewed links" in my app. Or how can I clear the history, just like you can delete the history in a browser?
If there is no way to hide or delete this history of "viewed links", Dropbox should urgently implement these functions. The mere advice that I am not allowed to give others my password or access is not helpful in this respect. The wish not to see this history or to clear it has nothing to do with this.
Thank you very much, if you would have a solution.

Hi liv2party, I was checking with my Team on that, hence the tad late reply.
Keep in mind that for security reasons, sharing an account with others is not recommended. Sharing Dropbox passwords with others also violates the Dropbox Terms of Service.
You can see more about that here.
As for your viewed links and their history, I have confirmed that they're stored locally and don't sync across devices.
In regards to Viewer Info, and if you don't want it to be displayed for anyone, including yourselves, you can always disable it on your content or for specific files or folders.
If you have any questions, I'm always at your service!

Yes, that is correct.

Hey liv2party! Just to make sure I got it right, are you accessing their Dropbox account via the mobile app on your own device?

Hi Nancy, I am curious if this info only shows on the device from which you opened a shared link, or all devices with the mobile app installed irrespectively. I opened a link while logged into someone else’s account and want to know if they will see it in their device or if it is only on mine.

Hey @Immanence ! Just to clarify, do you want to know if this info only shows on the device from which you opened a shared link, or all devices with the mobile app installed irrespectively?
Can you also clarify what you mean by your last sentence? In general, the “Viewed links” section can be easily removed by clicking on the palette icon Hannah mentioned above, and disabling it from the given list.
Thanks!
- Immanence2 years agoNew member | Level 2Can you clarify if this is shared with the account or if this is local information stored on a single device? Can you also provide an update as to whether there has been movement on fixing this security issue?
