How to leave a shared folder I have deleted?
Device
2015 MacBook Pro
Operating System/Browser (if using the web)
Mojave
Question or Issue
I deleted folders to free up space but, since shared folders still take up storage, I need to leave those shared folders. But since I can no longer see them in my 'deleted files', how do I leave them?

Deleted files DO NOT take up quota. But if you didnt leave the share you can still access it so yes, they are still in your account.
Click on the three dots next to the name and leave.

Refer to the instructions for how to permanently leave a folder on the following help article:

Thank you. The problem I'm having is that I can no longer see the folders I've deleted, even though they're still taking up storage space. How can I leave a folder that has been deleted but is no longer in my 'deleted files'? How can I free up that space?

You can go to http://www.dropbox.com/share and leave via there.

Hey djrdaniel, let's see what we can find about this together.
Where do you see that these folders still take up space in your account?
Would you mind clarifying what your account's plan page reports? If you have any screenshots of said page, along with what you see when visiting your sharing page, I'd appreciate the visual.
Keep me posted, and we'll take it from there.

Thank you. The files shown in 'All Files' are not enough to equal the 5.7GB total. Is it true that deleted folders can still take up space if I didn't leave them before deleting them?

Thank you. That resolved my issue. I was misled by the lag time between leaving folders and when the space actually becomes available.

Yeah, shared folders can be tricky — leaving them isn’t the same as deleting, so it’d be good if Dropbox made that option clearer.
