I can't see the option to "Copy link" from my desktop app
I have in the past been able to right click a file or folder and get the option to "Copy Dropbox Link". As of about a week ago, that option stopped showing up. How do I get it back?

Hi there, TEKma1980!Could you please confirm that the desktop app is running and that you can see the Dropbox icon next to your desktop’s clock? If so, could you please send me a screenshot (omitting personal info) of what it reads when you hover over it?Thanks in advance! - thylacinedesign7 years agoExplorer | Level 3
Hi Lusil,
I also have the same issue. Since resetting my dropbox password a week ago (the account got hacked), I can no longer see the 'Copy dropbox link' when I right click a folder on my desktop app. I am running a Mac and have done all of the things sufgested so far (unlink, relink account, reinstall dropbox, relaunch finder app, restart computer, unsync and resync folder in preferences, etc, etc.). Can you give me any otehr possibles solutions? Having to go into the web dropbox is time consuming inorder to share multiple files and folders.
Many thanks

Thanks for confirming what Rich asked and for the initial troubleshooting you did - awesome work!Could you also let me know if the desktop app is running and up to date by checking what the Dropbox icon reads when you hover over it?Thanks in advance, thylacinedesign! - MarthaBryce7 years agoNew member | Level 2
Hi
This is a problem for me too. I can see the icon on my mac but just can't see the 'copy link' option anymore. This is so frustrating. How can I get it back?

Hey there MarthaBryce, sorry to hear that you're also having trouble with this.
As a first step, could you try quitting the desktop app and refreshing Finder?
SpoilerMore specifically, to do this:
- Click on the Dropbox icon that's next to your computer's clock.
- Quit the desktop app.
- Open your Activity Monitor from your Mac Utilities folder.
- Force quit out of the instances of the Dropbox app that are running by searching for "Dropbox" in the search bar, then clicking on the "x" force quit icon on the top left.
- Re-start Dropbox from the apps folder by double clicking on the Dropbox app.
- Click on the Apple icon in the top left of your screen.
- Select on "force quit".
- Relaunch Finder.
If that doesn't do the trick, could you please send me a screenshot (without any personal info) of what your Dropbox icon shows when you hover over it?
Thanks in advance!

Hi all!
Could you let us know if you're still having this issue or if you resolved it at the end? If you did resolve this, what worked for you in the end?

Hi,
Have you been able to fix this? I have the same issue...
Thank you,

Sorry to hear you're also having issues with this too DianaScutelnicu - let's see what we can do now!
Just to make sure we're troubleshooting the right thing here, could you get me the desktop app's exact status as shown within your computer's system tray/menu bar?
If it's not running, you'll need to re-launch it or even re-install it Diana.
