Solved

My desktop app in Windows 10 hasn't been syncing for over an hour

Device
Desktop PC
Operating System/Browser (if using the web)
Windows 10
Dropbox App Version (if using the app)
(200.4.7123 - found in app settings or About section)
Syncing Status
"Syncing 3 files"

Question or Issue
My upload brodband speed is over 8 mbps so three videos totalling about 700 MB  should take only around 12 mins. Yet after over an hour only one of them is complete. Why such a glacial performance?

Customizing the bandwidth allows you to set an upper limit, or just to remove the limit entirely at all times.

When you have Dropbox optimize it automatically instead, it should try to use the maximum bandwidth available, but it might lower the syncing speed temporarily if it detects that the internet usage is is already high, such as from other apps or services on your machine (say when streaming videos, downloading files, etc).

    Hi Jay,

I think you may have solved it, thanks! I had it set at a slow speed (don't know how - I don't recall ever visiting that setting) and  I increased it enormously. But prompted by your post I've now switched it off the Customise option and left Dropbox to optimise it. Does that sound OK?
If I did customise it, what would be a sensible value?

Hi Terry P., currently, we're not experiencing any issues with syncing via the Dropbox desktop application.

Have you checked the bandwidth settings in the desktop app to ensure that there aren't any limits on the upload speed?

No. The sync has finished now and all three files are allowing link copying. But any explanation of why it was so slow?
