Preview NOT Displaying - Box just says Dropbox.com after Uploading to a Comment on forum
Recently, sometimes when I upload a jpg into a forum comment, instead of displaying the preview, it just has a box that says Dropbox.com. Clicking goes to the image but it does not preview. I have deleted, recreated, resized, renamed, moved back and forth, etc etc without success. This doesn't happen with all images. I remember once, I was able to get it to display - maybe by renaming but forget.
When I try renaming, moving, etc., instead of getting the Create Link when I try to share, often it says Copy Link so is retaining the old reference I'm trying to get away from so it might display.
There are no messages. It just doesn't preview.

Hi mm34, thanks for messaging the Community.
In order to understand what you're describing, could you attach a screenshot showing this in your next reply?
Are these images attached via a shared link, or after downloading an image from the Dropbox site?
This will help me to assist further!

Posting an image in a forum comment. Using Share. It should show a preview. Sometimes is just saying Dropbox.com with no image preview.

Hi from me too, mm34! Do you mind clarifying the forum on which this is happening? Are you seeing the same thing on multiple forums instead?
If you have any instance where the shared link shows a preview as well, feel free to upload a screenshot of it too, so that we can compare.
If a shared link has already been created for your screenshot, then Dropbox won’t show the “Create link” option again indeed, but you’ll be given the option to copy the existing link instead. Otherwise, you'd need to manually delete the old shared link to create a new one.

This is on FB. I often upload DB photos and a preview displays. It is intermittently not doing this. I can't figure out what the difference is. I try all sorts of things, as described in my opening post, and it behaves as described.
I understand I should see Create Link on the first Share. However, it holds the old reference and uses Copy Link in instances (described in opening post) where it would seem it should have used Create Link, as a first-time Share. So it is difficult to get around this problem of the image not showing a preview.

I see what you mean. However, since this is still regarding the same file (even if it’s been renamed/moved etc), the existing shared link won’t break, which is why you just see the option to copy it, instead of creating a new one.
I’ve passed your feedback on this to our team though, so that they’re aware of this.
Other than that, since this has to do with having a preview of the shared link’s contents on a different site, I’m afraid I can’t offer much more. I’m leaving the thread open though, in case one of the other users wants to chime in.

Thank you.
I have recreated the file though. Go into Photoshop, change the size, rename, and it does the same thing. Saved as jpg. It is not a large file under 100KB. I still have problems with it giving a Create Link.
Usually there is a preview. Exact same forum. Sometimes not anymore.
As far as syncing, I also have noticed I can make changes, or change the name on my computer, and it that is not reflected. So it doesn't seem to be syncing. Not as one would expect, anyway.

Hi mm34, you could try forcing the file to render by changing dl=0 to raw=1.
However, as this is related to how other software tries to preview shared links, there's little else we can suggest on how to make it work under their software.
