Questions about shared folders, storage space and permissions
Hi all,
After cleaning up all the mess in my Dropbox account I would like you to comment on two questions I have:
As an example. .I have a folder A, and a lot of subfolders within that folder, ...
So the person opens Dropbox goes into my account until the level of A1, finds the subfolder A1a ...
No, not exactly. If you share folder A1a with them, all they will see is A1a. The folder will appear in their own account. They never enter your account and will never see anything above A1a. They will only see A1a and any files or folders within it.
After editing files within A1a, the folder may be closed and removed from the free Dropbox account. In this way this person has always 2GB available.
Correct. Once they're done with the folder, they can remove the share from their account.
Is this a way to use Dropbox and shared folders?
Yes, that would be fine, just note how the folder actually works from my comment above.
A shared folder can be opened by another person as long as necessary until I remove the permission, right?
Correct. The folder will exist in their account until either you remove their access or they remove their access themselves.
