Unable to download files from shared link; always shows "incorrect email or password"

Hi Friend.

My client share a link and I want to download the shared files. But after I enter the password on the download file page, it always shows that the password is wrong. Even if I confirm the password is correct. Btw, When I click "create an account" and "forgotten your password?" nothing happens.

The file is about 40MB

I try to reset the password. It doesn't work.

Looking forward to your earlier reply. Thank you.

Hey Fish_114514, thanks for reaching out to us.

I'll need some clarifications in order to help you here.

Are you trying to access and download the files from a password protected shared link?

Or did someone send you a link for you to edit some files and you're trying to sign in to your Dropbox account, when you get this error?

Can you send us a screenshot of the error, so we can have a look?

    Thanks!

    Hi Hannah

This is my first time using Dropbox.  I just click the link, then click the download all.

Could this be a scam link?

Thanks for the update here, Fish_114514!

Clicking on "download all" should just download the files to your computer?

Is it prompting you to sign in to your Dropbox account instead?

Or are you being prompted to sign in when you click on the "save files" option?

    Hi Hannah

When I click "save files" or "download all", or try to download a single file, it prompts to sign in.

    It can't be downloaded directly.

That's quite strange, as you don't have to have a Dropbox account to just download the files.

Would you mind opening the Transfer link from a different browser or a private browsing window, and clicking on "download all", to see if you get a different behavior?

    Hi Hannah

    There's no difference. I'm afraid it's a scam link.

    Thanks for checking, Fish_114514.

From your screenshot it does look like the Dropbox Transfer page, but of course I can't be sure just by a screenshot.

I would suggest reaching out to the person that sent this link, so you can ask them to either share another Transfer link again, or perhaps a view-only shared link, which would also work.
