Uploads from Scan document on an Iphone 12 pro max are stuck
When I use the Dropbox widget to scan a document on my iPhone, I take the photo, crop it, hit next, give it a simple filename with no special characters, choses a folder send click save, it just sits...

4 years agoHey emsilver523, thanks for all the details you’ve sent us so far.
If you try to manually upload another small file from your phone’s camera roll, does the upload still get stuck, or is this only happening for your scanned documents?
If it’s the latter, let me know and I’ll open a ticket for you.

That worked fine but again it is very random. I might upload 50 fine and then it stops working. This has happened at least 7-8 times over the past 6 months

I see what you mean.
As soon as this happens again, feel free to give me a nudge here and we’ll investigate this further.
- Riley M.24 years agoHelpful | Level 6This is happening anew on a brand new phone. iPhone 14 Pro. Scanned from Dropbox. Scanning went fine. It’s been sitting as an Upload for several minutes now. I was able to upload a photo to Dropbox from the Photos app while it was still stuck. Photo was there but the document was still stuck.
- Riley M.24 years agoHelpful | Level 6I don’t know how to clear the cache, and I uninstalled and reinstalled on my previous phone, which seemed to resolve it. But this is a new phone (iPhone 14 Pro with latest iOS) and it’s still happening. In fact, I just rebooted in an attempted to get my last scan to upload and it’s still sitting there.
This happens randomly, but frequently. Sometimes it eventually uploads if I leave it overnight.
I have no confidence when I scan something with Dropbox that I will ever see it again.
Meanwhile, I just successfully scanned using your competitor OneDrive. Worked like a charm. For the same price as Dropbox, you also get a subscription to Microsoft Office. Looking like a good deal. - emsilver5234 years agoHelpful | Level 6I just upgraded to an iPhone 14 pro max. It had been working fine until yesterday the problem resurfaced again after using the phone for 10 days.

I'm having the same issue as well, as described by the previous users. Is there any update on this?

@Nancy,
I'm using the iOS version 304.2.2
The problem has occured in previous versions as well, but cannot say when it was introduced.
Edit:
Just updated to 306.2.2 and tried uploading a scanned PDF. The problem persists, the file upload got stuck.

I notice the same thing when I scan using the iOS Files app. From the perspective of the Files app, everything seems to be successful, but when I visit Dropbox, it once again appears as a stuck upload.
Additionally, this is now occurring frequently. The file might not necessarily be moved by restarting. If this keeps happening, I'll change file sync services.

Hey @threedots & SAbadshah, sorry to jump in here, but have you tried clearing the app's cache since you first noticed this?
- threedots4 years agoHelpful | Level 5
Yes, tried clearing the app cache - does not help.
The only thing that helps, is logging out from the app and logging in again. That removes the file that has got stuck, so you need to rescan it again whereafter it uploads correctly. But the problem then reoccurs again the next time you want to scan and upload a file.
I have also tried removing the Dropbox app completely and reinstalling it.
- threedots4 years agoHelpful | Level 5I took some screenshots and was about to upload them to Dropbox in order to show you, when I noticed that these uploads got stuck as well! So it seems like it’s not only the scanned files that fail.
Basically, the files are just stuck there in the status “waiting to upload” but nothing happens…
So all uploads seem to get stuck. Is anybody else experiencing this?
My app language is set to Swedish, btw, but I don’t think that’s related… - Riley M.24 years agoHelpful | Level 6Yes, that’s the same behavior I experienced.
Thankfully, it’s stopped happening, but I don’t know why, and I don’t know when it might start again, which has prevented me from committing to a long term paid subscription to Dropbox.
They offered to work with me via email but were being persnickety about the email matching (I use aliases) and the problem became less frequent so I gave up on that route.
I’m cheering you on from the sidelines now.
Sometimes rebooting the phone helps. - Duckey4 years agoNew member | Level 2
On a brand-new phone, this is occurring once more. 2014 iPhone Pro. taken from a Dropbox scan. The scan proceeded smoothly. It's been waiting to be uploaded for a while. While it was still stuck, I was able to upload a picture from the Photos app to Dropbox. The document was still stuck, but the photo was there.
