Are backups taking up space? How can I make up some space?

I just upgraded my Dropbox subscription to increase space for my many photos.  But I note now that I just have 553 giga of space.  Is Backup taking up space and can I release that space to gain more for the many photos I want to put in Dropbox?  Thanks

Hey Alangene - thanks for using Dropbox and welcome to our Community!

Your backed up files take up space on your account and you can delete them from your backups page if you'd like to free up some space.
