Previously there was no device limit on the Basic plan. That changed about six years ago (March 2019) when the limit changed to three.
If you had more than three devices connected before the limit changed, they would remain connected. You just wouldn't be able to add more devices (or re-add a removed device) until you were back below the new limit.
If you were on a paid plan or were a member of a team account, you would have been able to add unlimited devices to your account, and those devices would remain connected even if you left the team and were downgraded back to Basic.

Thank you for the info. I believe what happened is this team account theory. But this account should have always been Basic, and a separate account was used on a Team. Also, that Tram account had been inactive for a number of years. Is there a way for you to look at my specific account and find out what happened? My Basic account drastically changed very recently with no notice, and Iām trying to figure out what happened.
