Lost additional storage space when I downgraded back to the Basic plan
Hi. I had accumulated 30GB then I subscribed for a couple of years. Now I have decided to go back to the free version and only have 20GB although before my contract ended I checked with Dropbox and they said I would be given 30GB. Now I cannot get in touch with them to discuss this. Does anyone know how I can contact Dropbox to discuss this matter.
Thanks

Hi there Huggybear0 - sorry to hear about this.
Could you clarify how exactly you had gathered so much quota on your account? Was it from referrals perhaps or other promotions?
Also, what exactly is reported in your plan tab at the moment?
Let us know more and we'll take it from there.
- Huggybear02 years agoExplorer | Level 3Hi. Thanks for your reply.
I accumulated it through referrals.
Currently my plan tabs says 20.25GB. - Huggybear02 years agoExplorer | Level 3This is the message I received when I contacted Dropbox:

Hi Rob,
Thank you for your reply.
Please disregard the previous email as it was a mistake.
I can see that you have accumulated 32 GB worth of storage in total on your own, once you get downgraded you will not lose this extra space.
I will be looking forward to an update on this if there is anything else I can help you with.

I see, thanks for the additional information , Reede - much appreciated.
One piece of information that is missing here is that when you upgrade your account to a paid plan, the quota earned through referrals is doubled. On the contrary, when you downgrade back to the Basic plan, the storage space (I.e. quota) is halved, so it goes back to what you had before upgrading.
In this case, I gather that you had earned 16 GB of referral space, but when you asked about this you had already upgraded so the space mentioned was the double (32 GB).
Let me know if this makes sense.
- Huggybear02 years agoExplorer | Level 3Hi. I honestly can’t remember. You are correct that when I was told how much I had (32 GB) it was still in the upgrade period.
Is there a way to look back before I upgraded my account - Walter2 years ago

The space you've earned through referrals should still be visible in your plan tab, Reede. Since you're back on the Basic plan, it should be the same as it was before you upgraded.
Is it not showing up on your end?
- Huggybear02 years agoExplorer | Level 3Sorry Reede is the Dropbox agent. My name is Rob.
My Dropbox show:
Storage
Zero GB / 20.25GB
I emptied it onto a external drive to provide space so I could see how much is available - Walter2 years ago

Oh, I see - apologies for calling you Reede, Rob.
And is there not any additional information about your quota breakdown or your referrals in your account's settings at all?
- Huggybear02 years agoExplorer | Level 3No I am sorry I cannot see anything else such as a quota breakdown or referrals.
