My storage space is full because of old files. Can I delete them?

Hi - My account keeps saying I am running out of storage, but it is including old files in my account that I can no longer view. Is there a way to delete old files that you cannot view? I deleted my account and then recreated it with the same email, but it still says running out of storage. Thanks.

I have checked my shared and backups and those are empty. I had a Dropbox account many years ago and recently needed to start using Dropbox again. However, the others on my team who share the same folders, have plenty of space. I'm the only one who keeps getting the message running out of storage. I thought maybe Dropbox was still including old files I may not have deleted years ago.

They very likely have upgraded accounts then.

Shared folders use up the quota of everybody within the Team, so, if you are in a share you need enough quota to access that file - either via Upgrade or being part of a paid Business plan.

So I would be the only one on a team of 4 that would have this problem? I do not understand how that is possible if we are sharing the exact same folders/files. Each should have the same if not maybe a little more of space showing.
