No storage space but no files in dropbox
Hi,
I have a Dropbox Basic account that I have been using for years. Since a few weeks now, I am having issues.
Whenver I have received storage limit notifcations in the past, I was able to remove some files from my account to free up some space.
Now I am getting notifications that my account is out of space (I received an email, have a popup at the top of my screen when I'm looking at my files in my browser, and the desktop app says I am out of space) despite that there are no files currently in my dropbox. I haven't uploaded anything out of the ordinary or particularly large to my account.
Current displays:
Desktop app: 102.4% of 2.4 GB used. Can't sync "filename" (your dropbox is out of space).
Any ideas what the root cause is, or why my space usage is not displaying the correct storage? I am perplexed as to why things were operating smoothly and are suddenly not.

Do I just need to delete it or how do I disable backup?
The second link I provided shows how to disable the backup feature.

Hey Riverside Range, sorry to jump in here, but could you have a look at your account's homepage and this page as well and let us know if you see any files or folders listed there?

Thanks, believe I found the issue. It backed up an external hard that it was not supposed to do.
Now I need to be sure that dropbox does not back up any drives.

I'm having the same problem. I've checked everything and I can't figure out why it says that I'm over my allocated storage space!

Me, too. Could not see files with free level and had message that space exceeded. Bumped up to first non-free payment level and still not seeing files/photos.

Hi chosen2945, DCabral & JAKuchenbrod - sorry to hear you're also having issues with this.
Can you please take a look at your homepage and your backup page as well and let us know if you see any files or folders there?
Also, what exactly is reported in your plan tab in regards to your quota?

I'm having the exact same issue! My quote page says Using 0 bytes of 2.25 GB. There is nothing in the backup or the main page. I've deleted everything and emptied my deleted items permanently. UGH! And I don't have the app or downloaded to my computer, I access everything via the URL.

Hey JulieBee, sorry to hear about this.
Could you send us a screenshot of your plan tab and clarify where exactly are you getting a notification that you're out of quota in Dropbox?
